Hehehehhe, only giving you okes some crap. Well done and congrats. i still believe you are the best. Just a slight hick-up..

Viva shaping viva. LOL

Congrats to AH and Afriman. I also think you are still the best, regardless of what I'm saying every now and again.

As a matter of fact, I just recommended to our IT manager to consider AH business bundles.

Awesome, as much as shaping is a "now" issue - we know that when our clients look back on their relationship with us, they will have mostly positive experiences to reflect on :)

I have not had it easy with getting my internet going but I must say THANK YOU to the Afriteam... you guys have all been extremely helpfull whenever I had a question (many of which were stupid questions I am sure).

My struggles are still not over but you continue to help for which I am thankfull!

Awards well deserved!

(ps. I joined as all the internet issues started)

It's tough when you've joined when our network is not at it's best. But as time goes on you'll see that we always deliver the best to our clients (even when it's at our cost). Hopefully all will be sorted out soon :)

To ensure the rest of the network runs at it's absolute best.
If we had to unshape everyone, regardless of the amount of capacity on any network, it will be brought to it's knees :( Shaping on non-realtime protocols allows us to unshape on realtime services.

Please, though, we'd really like to see more people scheduling torrents and downloads overnight. This will free up capacity to be less shaped during the day and peak times, and will also use our spare capacity

So it is a capacity issue after all?

I'm not asking for all protocols to be unshaped. Legitimate HTTP downloads from the UCT servers should never be shaped. Ever.

No, it's not capacity related.
There are so many factors in a network of this size, as we've mentioned.

Today, latency saw a spike on our network - which has been sorted out.
There's a reason why we've shaped HTTP downloads, it's a necessary measure to have on any network. If you want to urgently download a file while your account is shaped please use a Turbocharge session.

Could you expand on what factors that includes?

What if I have no more turbocharges left? I would have to buy another one. But I'm already paying R797 a month? Why should I have to spend more? I have no inclination to download the internet.

Shaping, contention and the others I've mentioned on this thread so many times. Honestly, I'm not near qualified enough to go into every single situation on our network.
Home Uncapped accounts are subjected to shaping though, especially during peak hours.

If you want unshaped bandwidth, then get a business account. Simple.

Something is seriously wrong on Afrihosts network and from calling in It was confirmed. I am getting around 10% of my bandwidth on P2P on my 1mb uncapped. total Kb/s is around 8-15 instead of 70-90. I sure hope they fix this soon. :(

Now this... is what I'm talking about:

We've had to implement heavier shaping than usual as we saw a fairly large spike up in bandwidth earlier this morning. This does seem to be mostly resolved though and we can expect shaping to ease as it gets later.

So hopefully sometime this evening? its gotten worse now I am getting around 5Kb/s. :(
Anyways thanks for your feedback

WTF??! Since when is this?

What does this mean ito speed"
Account Status: Account Active
Shaping Policy: 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P

Am I getting 18.8% of max possible speed on downloads?
Is hop 6 where the slowdown is enforced?
