MY PIONT EXACTLY, I left without them throttling me on a 4mb line I used 423 gigs to test them. I for one don't mind apologizing when I am proven wrong. Hindsight always 20 20.

Great feedback and one of the few guys to mention 30 days usage, speed. good I love facts, for the record, you are on 4096 premium?

Yes I am.

Great to have these, I used around 300 in the 30 days and I was fine, good to know I could've done even more, i presume the mail sent to you stated you are close to throttle. I didnt even get a mail at frequent 300s a month

Yes I am chatting with them at the moment as well, to be honest I am posting everywhere I can think of, not to shame afrihost in any way so please do not take it that way, I am just trying to find someone that can actually help me find the problem.

I just got a call and after explaining my situation I unfortunately had to ask him to phone me back as I had to run into a meeting quick. Waiting for the call back now.

To be honest I don't agree with that approach. You'll end up having multiple people working on the same issue, possibly repeating or even undoing each other's efforts. The only way you're going to find a solution is to work systematically with one point of reference and feedback results to that point. The shotgun approach just never works and is actually going to deliver a lesser result (or a slower resolution) in the end.

My opinion - Use / Don't Use ;)

There we go. We have capacity available. Now I'm confused... One example.

I'm not sure of the context, but if I remember correctly that post from AfriGuy was in response to someone who claimed that we sent out mailers saying we have no capacity on the network and that our network is saturated. This was also a general comment, not specific to a region, like North or South or East. I can understand why he would respond in that way, becuase in general we do have capacity on our network, the issue you are now referring to is specific to the north. Again, referring to capacity also doesn't incorporate the fact that usage trends changed, so that our capacity planning was basically thrown out the window.

So then what is the new plan?

At the moment we are still looking at what options are available. This is being discussed at management level between MTN and our Directors. I am very confident that they will reach a great solution firstly for our clients, and also to ensure that we have sufficient performance through December into 2014.

As soon as I have confirmed information from our management, I'll pass that on here on MyBB.

I'm pretty sure the idea that this isn't related to capacity issues, as large networks don't work the same as smaller networks, was mentioned. This thread is just so huge I can't find it. But I will.

We're not spin doctors at all. It's a little unfair to compare two statements, made very far apart and out of context :(
I have not made it a secret that I felt you were spinning from the beginning. Does the two statements have to do with the same issue?

This would be really great. Am looking forward to solid feedback about future plans.

One is in response to a specific question regarding mails being sent out saying our network is saturated (which was not the case). We've said consistently that demand has exceeded available capacity and while we initially were confident that usage would return to normal (according to our analysis) this was not the case.

If you think that's spinning the truth, I'm not sure what more I can say :(

That's definitely our intention. As soon as we have real information, we'll post it here. We don't to make any false or premature promises to try to keep queries at bay. We're being as open as we can about what's happening and what we're doing.

afriman, you forget Telkoms network freeze, you only have 6 weeks to resolve and get the capacity, you give the impression that it will take time and I think 6 weeks will ot be enough unless your board agrees like now to get more IPC, even thn you have too little time

We ave not forgotten, in fact I know that this is being factored in, as well as proposed line upgrades which are going to increase demand as well over the proposed period. I can promise we have some very smart people, with a whole lot of stats and data working and planning around this and I'm pretty sure we won't leave this to be resolved until next year after the network freeze.
