Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

Ok, so do we have to upgrade and then downgrade immediately? Also, will the system allow you to do this? You guys are really vague on this issue and a little help would be appreciated. Do you have to unbundle?? What do we have to do?

Also, I just got my line stable. I do not really want to touch it. Can you not just adjust the billing? It really is a pain to have to upgrade, downgrade etc...

This whole process is a little confusing and believe me we also playing catchup with Telkom. If Telkom doesn't inform us of the upgrade, we don't know to mail you and let you know to change your package. But essentially that is the best time to upgrade or downgrade to ensure that you get the product that you actually want. Have just been through this with another client and he was on 4Mbps and wanted to stay on 4Mbps. Telkom upgraded him to an unstable 10Mbps and then downgraded him to 2Mbps - even though we're still not sure how that happened.

I would advise just hanging on until we know your line has been upgraded - otherwise a downgrade is not going to be feasible and Telkom won't give us the option. But from our side - until Telkom notified us, you could be on an upgraded line with a lesser data package, so we by default charge you the same rate until you can realise that saving (or extra speed) after the upgrade.

I know it's not ideal, but there is a LOT of confusion out there, and we're doing our best to cope with this latest Telkom surprise. If we drop your package without an actual upgrade happening, we'll be paying Telkom a lot more on your line than is feasible - especially in a bundle. We know it's not ideal, but you can rest assured that the "extra" money - which is not actually anything extra - is all going to Telkom and not to us :(

Ok that is all great, but all new client's are paying R797 for the same package I am currently on? How do I get to pay R797? I am on a 4mb business account with my line syncing at 6mb..

Just randomly checked my line on telkom's adsl checker. It says my line is now on 2Mbps, clientzone still showing 1Mbps?

Edit: Recreated and re-synced port, line still syncing at 1024

Ok Afriman, Please read this, I am on a 4 MB line and should pay 279 seeing that my line cannot go any faster, why am I paying 399 ?????? Please can you fix this, there is no option to downgrade to 4MB dsl only, thus I DONT want to upgrade to 10MB dsl cause I cant, thus this isnt about upgrading but the fact that I am now being billed for a service I dont have and never in the foreseeable future will have.

I'm sorry that does not make sense! How will you be paying more, the upgrade is free? I'm on a 2Mbps line, I want to stay on a 2Mbps line. Telkom is charging you for a 2 Mbps line with the already cheaper price, why do I have to pay more?

Why am I getting 1-2 kbps speed on my 2mb line with torrents? Apparently no shaping is applied.

Afriman, sent jou a PM. Afrihost has screwed me over pretty bad by not cancelling my dam bundle end of November as I moved out og my place. Now I can't cancel my telkom line as telkom just tells me it's a afrihost line. and afrihost just tells me they cancelled it and I'm'm the one paying for another guys phone bill.

I am really confused now. My line was already upgraded. It was syncing at 9mbps the other day. Asked you guys to sync my line at a lower speed as it was dropping all the time. It is now syncing at 6mpbs. So my upgrade was done. I need to be on the 4mb package and paying the new rates??

Where/how do i change my bundle to increase my account to 4mb, as my line is now 4mb, last time i tried to change something in clientzone i did it wrong :(

Hi Afriguy. I'm moving to Jozi in two weeks and want to put in a 10meg uncapped Afrihost bundle. What is the cheapest telephony package I can get to keep costs down? I'll keep the ADSL line rental with Afrihost. Thanks :)

You'll need to un-bundle your line, upgrade and re-bundle. Can all be done via the old ClientZone :)

Are you referring to your voice line payments? There should be a really basic option with Telkom - can't remember this off hand though ;(

@ Afripeople

I currently have a 4mb uncapped account what happens when I decide to bundle to get a 10mb uncapped bundle? What will I be charged? How is the process handled with regards to Telkom. When do I pay who?

The process is completely automated. You will not be charged twice according to Afriman, and you will pay telkom to the point at which Afrihost takes over your line - at which point your bill from telkom will stop and your bill from Afrihost will start :D

Even though telkom upgraded the exchange, your line might have a max of 1Mbps due to distance/quality :/

Have you ever synced above 1Mbps on your line?
