Yes. Sorry - should've clarified I pretty much only used it for downloading, and I seemed to be constantly "Managed". But streaming is all good

Is there a red light on the router or anything different from normal, it could be temporary authentication issues. Hope it gets sorted soon for you

Well I tried out their sister companies 10mbps product for December, WOW. Cant believe that it's so much better. I don't download much these days since i have Netflix, Hulu, Cloudload etc so streaming is just a absolute pleasure on this axxess 10mbps account. But when I do download I get okeish speeds during the day and awesome speed during the night. Afrihost please mimic your sister company so i can come back.

I think it's worth coming back to Afrihost as there network is better managed even with the higher price tag, Afrihost know how to better the experience for there customers and rectify situations efficiently and quickly. I highly recommend them! Remember even though Afrihost and Axxess are like brother and sister companies, they are still two different ISP and therefore they will have different ways of doing things if I'm not mistake

I'm shaped at 12% and steam downloads show 400KB/s on 2Mb line. Think it might be unshaped. And it's not the steam download glitch, since I downloaded 3 largish games in the time I drove from home to work.

I took the plunge. I am currently a happy biz uncapped customer. Waiting for the debit order to go through though. I spoke to live support to check that my account would be debited.

I've only had my afrihost uncapped account for a few weeks, but I was under the impression that throttling is reset at the start of each month, but I'm shaped at +- 8KB/s today.

Shaping isn't reset every month, but rather runs dynamically. It should ease up after hours though, what's your overall experience like?

Oh and Afrihost, WHY do you charge me R697 for a 4mbps uncapped bundle when your site clearly states it to be R597? Also did the account pause thing for December and yes it was red, paused, inactive the whole of December in clientzone, lo and behold I was billed.

Our system needs some time to adjust and come in line with the new Telkom pricing, we're running through our existing client database and adjusting prices where applicable

Yup, downloads from Steam are shaped. I think it's classified as an HTTP download though, don't quote me on that though, I'll need to confirm
