Greetings :)

AfriGirl is around, she just doesn't post around this part of the interwebz that much.
AfriMan and myself usually go hunting here :)

Anything I can help you with in the mean time?

Hey, she replied to a PM i sent afriman yesterday regarding line drops. Was just wondering if it was being monitored or if you guys can see from your side when it drops?

Strange, I'll take a look at my inbox in a bit.
We don't throttle, ever - there is shaping, but only the Uncapped accounts are subjected to this.

I'll follow up via PM.

Shaping is adjusted according to our network load, we don't pre-define any set times around it :)

Hi thanks for the response and I must say I'm am so far very happy with the service that I have received from afrihost and look forward to the year ahead with afrihost.

Kind regards

Send PM to you.

Edit
This is my current speed.
Download Speed: 1069 kbps (133.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 415 kbps (51.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 134 ms

Should be able to download at that speed?

You should be able to, but the traceroute you PM'ed me may indicate an exchange issue :(

That is correct. Why when I use my backup ISP I can download 40to80kB/s?
At times faster depended on exchange issues.

Current ETA for my download is 1d5h:(
800MB download file?

Is your Uncapped account shaped at all? Shaping is further aggravated by exchange issues :(

No not Uncapped only have Capped. That is why I moved over to Capped.
To improve on exchange issues.
My backup ISP is also Capped.

So.. let me get this straight.

You have slow speeds on your Afrihost Capped account, but not on your backup ISP?

There shouldn't be an issue here, what is your experience on a different account?

They had problems switched over also currently crawling.
Hope Telkom will sort their issues out soon. No ETA when they will resolve this exchange problem.
I complained a lot to them last month and today again. It seem my 4Mb/s account only gives me 1Mb/s through put.
But I pay for the 2Mb/s account which was upgraded to 4Mb/s.

This is what TelkomZA reported back to me.
The dlam you are connected to is marked for congestion and linked to a network ref 86BRK070813 due to congestion.
Sorry to say your port cannot be moved to another closer dslam as there is none available.
The dslam will need to be upgraded which has been earmarked to be done
The ETR dates is not available.
Telkom confirmed not in many words I have a problem when I spoke to him this afternoon. No ETA date is set, so I'm in the dark currently. Did request who can I contact. It is all in Technical hands.
So I'm looking at something else to over come my current problem. It must be cost effective. Vodacom data is to expensive and 8ta also. MTN in my area also does not work that well. Only ones that work well is Vodacom and 8ta. I did also invested that time in a aerial installation and tested various vendors. Vodacom doe also not 3G in hour area, but overcome problems with Arial installation. 8ta used to run on MTN backbone. MTN is also not well received here. Running on 8ta with aerial installation was also much better. Don't know currently.
