AfriMan, I spoke too quickly. The following email was received at 307 this morning:

"Thanks for the email.

Please note, as per your request your package has been
successfully changed to 50GB Capped DSL Data.
but then because you have already being billed on your
Business DSL package, this change will only be effective
from the 1st of March 2014.

Please do not hesitate to contact us, should your require further assistance.

Regards
Itumeleng MakuaAfrihost.com
Pure Internet Joy!"

Itumeleng had misread the emails, and had undone all your hard work from last night. I am now back on a 50gb capped account... As Itumeleng puts it: "Pure Internet Joy..."

Can you please help again?

Not sure what's happening there. Could be broken telephone between a previous ticket and what we discussed last night.

From what I can see, you should be back on business again already.

Drop me a PM if you not seeing the change in CLientZone as you should :(

@AfriReps

Could you please assist? After being fed up for the shaping I decided I'd move to a capped account, I did not want another month of shapping, so I signed up for a 100Gig Capped 10Mbps account. I then received an SMS that it would take "up to 48hrs" to upgrade to 10Mbps. It has now been 96+ hours and nothing has changed. I spoke to support yesterday and they said I should wait another 24hrs, thats up by 11 AM and it seems still nothing will have changed. Could you please look what's going on?

Sorry to hear that. I'm assuming that this is a line upgrade and the data change is not really related.

But actually please PM me with the details and I'll get this sorted out for you.

I tried the Afrihost tool but got no results, I'm guessing this is an exchange issue but thought I'd check with you.

The 2nd hop would indicate a problem with the exchange, yes.

'Made the jump to Business uncapped. Life's too short to have to deal with shaping ;) Excited to see how it runs when I get home this evening. Thanks Afriman & team for the support on this thread.

I switched to afrihost a week ago (from mweb) thanks to so many recommendations... but, is Afrihost's shaping usually this aggressive:
Shaping Policy: 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P

This is insane and has been like this for the last 2 days. I feel like I'm back on dialup.
Also, why is the news server (presumably on their own local network) also subject to these policies?

All downloads including the news server is shaped unfortunately. It should get better later in the day so try and schedule downloads to run through the night. But Afrihost has ordered additional capacity so it should get better. When that capacity arrives who knows, not even Afriman, all we know is some time February.

Last night I waited until 22h30... nothing.

I had to wikipedia that. :) But everything is running fine now, 2nd hop on tracert is now 81ms.
Hopefully it was just a short term issue last night.

You're not alone, I too find myself on Wiki after AfriMan says something. His brain stores a strange amount of data ;)
Anyway, 81ms is still a bit high for the exchange :( Keep monitoring and keep us posted!

What area are you in?
We only shape P2P and downloads, realtime services are never shaped.

Fourways

It took me about 20 minutes to download an update to teamspeak earlier. That's quite lame when everyone is waiting on you to start the game. Also, I'm completely unable to stream from twitch.tv, is this also shaped then?
