Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

Afriman I tried your tweak my line thing in clientzone, my ADSL is dead now and wont connect. How can that be? Did a power cycle also, still the same.

Whenever I've logged into my clientzone and checked on my account prior to this month, I've been unshaped. This month somehow, I seem to be shaped more often than not. My usage hasn't changed, in fact, it's now lower on average than previous months.


I wonder what is happening over there at Afrihost. They must not be able to handle their growth that well.
 
Got my line fixed now, but MAAAAAAAN I was unshaped for 2 seconds this morning, and then BAM.

Shaping Policy: 50% Download/ 25% P2P

Same here, I must say I am really starting to lose hope here....

I said I would be happy if you shape but leave my gaming alone, but look at this now!!

Now you are shaping me silly and messing with my gaming. So the net is basically useless for me right now. please get your ducks in a row guys.

This is, pretty much precisely, what has my panties knotted. The user experience has changed dramatically over the past week or so, and I'd love to know why... and what the Afri-folks are doing to address the issue.

Wow!!! and I wanted to sign up with them from next week. What worries me is the absence of feedback from the Afri-guys. Seems we are doomed to never have proper internet in this Country.
 
Yep, don't tell me the usage is still so much that I now have to be shaped like this!!!!!

on a week day!!! This is getting a bit pathetic!!

I am now shaped silly and my ping is crap!!! So can't even play online games to pass the time. What's the use of the net then!!??

Yep nowhere to be seen... I'm thinking there is something more to this slow speeds. Got lucky with the IOS7 downloads and just used that as an excuse.... Wonder what the real issue is here.
 
I am going to give Afrihost the benefit of the doubt as they have been good so far (from what I gather from the forums).

And the silence is making me a tad nervous as well... I have to say though, maybe they are in a meeting about the current situation... Maybe we will have answers soon!

I hope so at least as I sent telkomza a pm and apparently they (afripeople) just need to confirm client self install but other than that my dsl is activated, not so on clientzone though... argh...

To go where? Afrihost have succeeded in instilling pangs of loyalty in me thanks to their usual customer-centric approach, and having the cojones to shake up the market every now and again. Not feeling the love at present though.

This is exactly what is irking me a bit. Something has drastically changed in the past week. Maybe we were lucky to not expect any shaping. And although I am furiously loyal to Afrihost this has me seriously worried. The change has been very drastic. Let's hope this gets resolved soon.

There are a few other options. I moved from OW as a result of the more expensive Gold package...

I'd rather keep myself from the inevitable personality clash I'd have with certain folk at OW...

'Sides, I'm still confident that Afrihost will fix whatever needs to be fixed.

Probably load on their servers. Not much we can do there I'm afraid :(

We're looking into how we can best manage the demand for usage at the moment. We're still seeing a large amount of traffic for OP updates, but still mostly torrents.

However general realtime speeds should still be awesome :)
 
Hi Guys, What sort of streaming are you guys getting from Netflix?

When Afrihost isn't shaping, I am getting 720p on UK and 480p max on US.
Am using Unotelly on CT DNS and have a 10MB line.

Tried a Axxess trial account yesterday and hit 1080 Super HD on UK and 1080p on US and could almost get 3D movies...

What gives?
