The shaping should only effect downloading, could you post some traceroutes to twitch.tv please?

As you wish sir.

My second hop is a bridged modem - I've run tests directly out of bridged mode and get same results. As we you can see there are big latency hops on the network.

@AfriMan,

Do you guys have an FTP server or something that we can use to test true download speeds?
I don't trust speedtest.net ....

testmy.net claims to be better, but I always get terrible results there which are either telling me that things are really terrible or that their test servers are just not on a high priority network route from here.

This is on capped 10mbps just now, for reference:
http://testmy.net/db/eAsUq3n
and I don't believe that for a second because youtube is fine, podcasts download from various locations at average 800KiBps and generally everything feels more like 10mbps rather than 0.76mbps

As you wish sir.

Yes, something does not seem right here.
Your traceroute dies around hop 9.
I wish i could tell you what the issue is.. :-/

Ah well. Not a train smash...HD would have been nice, but SD won't kill me.

Expecting some good quality feedback from the Afri team tomorrow regarding the network performance.

This is so much fun, I can't do anything besides stream.
I can't play games the ping is 500-2000ms spiking all the time, instead of a stable 200ms.
For the last week now, I'm doing an online install of a game, at 50kb/s and while this runs, I can't browse I can't do anything.
This is on a 4meg line...
Seriously fix this ****.

ugh. Didn't last long. Shaping Policy: 25% Download/ 12.5% P2P. Surely the recent pattern of shaping is more than just a temporary capacity issue?
crazy shaping all day! Shaping Policy: 25% Download/ 12.5% P2P - and at 10pm!
Come on Afrihost - time you came clean; admit there's a problem - what are you going to do about it?

Current SHAPING @ 10:03pm - 12.5% Download/ 6.25% P2P

I think we are being lied to here, and I think that we need some honest answers. This has been going on for long enough now.

Eish, what's going on here... Hoping all this gets sorted out SOON (as in by the time my dsl gets activated)

Yip, this is my first month with these guys and if honest answers aren't forthcoming it may well be my last. Doesn't make sense given the advertising in their sure that they have an additional 60% capacity from about mid month.

Yeah it's pretty bad, I've been good since about a month after they did the MTN switch, but then they were openly honest about having issues. At the moment on their site "network fully operational" is a bunch of bs.

cant do anything........http(s) 30kb/s, http downloads 15kb/s, nevermind nntp/p2p.....

I just joined a week or two ago and everything has been going well my side really can't complain. I'm in the cape town .
