killer shaping in the weekend, and high international latency on weekends, happy days :P

still better than the other ISP's , lol

@AfriTeam: Can I get it in black and white that the Business Uncapped accounts are NEVER shaped? I am about to click upgrade but I want to know that no matter how much I download, no matter how active the line is that it will never be shaped.

Chat to some of the BU users perhaps? A friend of mine is on BU 8Mb and he's really happy with it.
AfriMan did say the other day that it's never shaped, unless there are capacity issues. During this whole month, my friend hasn't been shaped once.

Can anyone else confirm this?

This is my home line and I want to game on it but the shaping has just irked me to the point that the extra R100 is worth it if I can abuse my line 24/7

Try it for a month and if you don't like it then just downgrade again. Afri makes it so damn easy via client panel

well thats one of the reasons why I moved from MWEB to AH, that and the whole throttling story. I decided to upgrade but how long does it take to kick in? I have restarted my router and I am not noticing a change.

Upgrade what?

The process should be automated and could take an hour or more to take effect.

My upgrade from 2mb to 4mb took 2 hours to take effect.

from 2Mbps Home Uncapped to 2Mbps Business Uncapped
That should be done pretty quickly, unless it's not automated.

Where's your line? Telkom or AH?
At Telkom mine took under 2 minutes.
At Afrihost, it works as follows: You put in the request, Afrihost puts it in a file, at 8am tomorrow Afrihost sends it to Telkom and Telkom queues it. Mine took about 36 hours in total. (I moved from 2Mb to 10Mb. Currently at 4Mb, waiting for someone to bump me to 10).

Yay, they lifted some of my shaping. I am now going to download the world!!!

Shaping Policy: 25% Download/ 12.5% P2P

Please fix this guys. This is not nice anymore!!!

Well I've switched to Afrihost recently and everything was amazingly rosy for 2/3rds of the month - and now I'm getting shaped into oblivion! I can understand the fact that they need to balance out their network, but is there no way for AH to not shape smaller HTTP downloads? That certainly falls within the bounds of Home usage, it's taking me so long to download files 30mb and under! Damn! In any case - Afriman/guy - can you tell is this shaping going to be a regular thing nowadays or can I expect it only at the end of the months once I've racked up a certain level of usage? I am currently at 116GB usage this month on the 1Mbps service - tell that I will not be shaped at any point like this at lower usages like 15/30/60GB etc?

Currently I am on this: Shaping Policy: 25% Download/ 12.5% P2P

Dont see why it should take that long, unless you are in the billing cycle, which is now....

I have my final month left with M-Web. I am definitely going to be keeping an eye out for these kinda of things before I signup.

Why are my colleagues also reporting heavy shaping at the moment on their Afrihost accounts. First time they have noticed it, for many of them, around this time.

Yep. Afrihost is quite crap at the moment. Have to wait till 12 for anything to download. Still sitting on "Shaping Policy: 75% Download/ 75% P2P" for now. Will see after 12 (which is in 1 minute btw). Getting sick and tired of this bs!! They are def not telling us everything here.

Afriman, despite me being a heavy user, it is really unfair to be shaped after midnight. Surely your network can't be under load now
