Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

Maybe they know better than to stand here getting flamed by people, and rather help people with issues they can solve.

I pm'd both as they overcharged me. Still have not received any feedback. So they are not helping in other areas either.

Maybe, they are helping the engineers finding the bandwidth leak, so they can plug it and lift the shaping.

Down further

Shaping Policy: 25% Download/ 6.5% P2P.

I predict in the next 10 min it will be

Shaping Policy: 18% Download/ 6.25% P2P

Weird, maxing out my line via FTP atm.

I don't think the numbers in Client Zone mean anything, they don't seem to reflect at all what I'm getting.

Perhaps they're related to the Infinite Improbability Drive?

Yeah, the figures in ClientZone certainly don't reflect what's actually going on. I'm shaped to 18.8% on HTTP, which means I should be seeing 'round 80KB/s at the very least on a multi-threaded speedtest. Instead I'm getting this:

Just stellar.

I noticed they are offline. Perhaps they are busy looking into it? I too need a reply to an issue.

Likewise. 61KB/s on my MSDN grabs, and I need to finish it today :/
:whew:
TurboCharge saves the hour. 220KB/s.

75 % through a 750 Mb file and it failed - now need to start again but now 25% shaped and downloading at 15KB/s.
The most telling thing here is AH have obviously given up trying to explain / defend this - they have obviously decided that most people will just keep paying them every month rather than bother to change to another ISP. I wonder how many other pissed off AH clients are out there who either don't know about this forum or can't be bothered to complain.
I saw someone post here recently wondering if it would be possible to get 170 Gb a month on a 1MBs uncapped account with AH - Bwahahahaha

Well I think the truth is not coming out here. I have monitored this thread the last month and it is worrying I am definitely not signing up with them.

I have been having a fat argument with Afrihost on facebook. Been treated like an idiot too. Nothing is being said about it either. Just getting shaped and have done 50GB on a 2mbps line. Is Web Africa good?

Funny how the Afriteam is replying to other threads. I think they are scared to come here now...

What's worse is that we can't cancel with immediate effect. We have to give 30 days notice bs. I wanna change now. :/

I suspect they can't say anything which hasn't already been said... I'm sure they're reading though. Just wish they'd be fixing instead.

Also. ****. I can't even download an Edgars statement through Thunderbird before being logged out by my online banking's timer. :D :(

So pissed I logged a Hello Peter complaint.

Not even a response to that.
SHAME ON YOU AFRIHOST.

Maybe I'll cancel both my 10Mb uncapped as well as mobile data services... because your service has taken a slump.
And if hundreds or thousands more think like me, you're in for a wild ride.

As I said earlier, I think Gian shaped their responses. :)

And here I am having no issues with either Business ADSL or Mobile Data.

I think much of it stems from assuring you and your fellow business account users don't have issues, at the cost of course of those of us who hadn't had any issues on home accounts either for the past however many months. :(

...

Now I half expect Afrihost to start pointing to their terms soon, by which the accounts are simply being managed within the boundaries set...

From their Facebook page:

Our AUP states that we shape downloads...

and:

Our shaping policy is stated in our AUP. Non-Realtime services are shaped on a sliding scale with higher users being shaped more than lower bandwidth users. We shape during peak times. Your realtime services like browsing, streaming and gaming will not be affected. We will be happy to investigate your account. You can private message us your username.

Just call me Nostra-****ing-damus.

And what the hell is wrong with them merely enforcing their AUP now that is has for once become needed?

Good heaven people would think the world is ending. I understand and am frustrated myself that they are shaping so strongly after the many months of little to no shaping. If you don't like it, move. Easy as that.

I am sure they are aware of the issues and are trying to streamline it as best as possible. If that is not good enough for you - click cancel and be gone.
