Shaping Policy: 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P

at 21:37pm????

what gives?

yep, whats the point of us paying for something which we cant use? even in the evenings?
I am currently paying R897 per month for something I cant use when I get home, if I go to one of AH's competitors and pay the same I can use my adsl... not at the same speeds, but with less frustration...

this makes me sad, because I like AH :'(

cant stream netflix....i thought real time services were not affected? it seems some ISP's are in the business of lying to customers now.

Latency has spiked again... That's why you can't stream Netflix.

Morning all

So it looks like latency is back, particularly in on the JHB IPC :( Our guys are aware of this, let's give it 10 - 15 mins to normalise. I'm really sorry about this, these type of issues shouldn't be so frequent.

We'll do our absolute best today to stabilise the latency and see things return to normal.

You really need to sort this out, cant keep letting it happen all the time and I'm on business

I fully agree with you, I'm confident that our team will have this sorted out ASAP.
Latency does seem to be improving, please keep us posted guys :)

I know this is not the right tread for this but I do think it is relevant. been having my eye on this tread this last month.
Yesterday I bought a 10 gig capped as I wanted download some file urgently. I was impressed with the speeds I got on my acc.
Short lived tough as this morning I am installing zone alarm and downloading the antivirus definitions.
Crawling at a average of 13.5 kB/s. I suppose this falls under HTTP downloads?

So what is going on guys? Capped doesn't even work any more?

Morning :(

Our Capped accounts are never shaped, they're a fully unshaped product. This morning though, high latency spikes have returned to our network so we'll need to fix that before the accounts will start performing as normal.

Everything Aktor said. Especially this part

I've been tempted since the beginning to move my Telkom line management over to Afrihost as well, but there is no way on earth I can do that while I'm not sure whether Afrihost is the right permanent solution for my Internet provision needs under the current circumstances.

Please we need answers, not some vague 'We dont really know what is going on but we will look into it' sh*t.

I moved from Openweb to Afrihost because the option of having integrated customer service looked promising to me. However the last weeks performance do not look good to me. I need to make a business decision and I need facts to base it on. Currently I dont have the facts, because you cannot provide it, so I have to go on what I have. That would mean I will have to go back to Openweb.

All the ISP's seem to be in heavy waters atm... seems strange that no one bought emergency BW for the "Great MWeb Emigration of 2013" as I like to call it.

I specifically went the capped route for this. Very disappointed at the moment taking me 50 min to download 140MB of a 235 MB file.

Just like I predicted, come morning and back to 10 KB/s! Stoked!!

@Aktor doesnt look like we gonna get those straight answers after all..

@pjjdp fully agree :(

This is starting to become out of hand, surely the CPA must protect the consumer in some way?

If I get 20% of the service I'm supposed to get, then I should pay for only 20%

Afrihost, am I going to get 80% discount at the end of this month?

Times up mate!!

I fully understand that you're frustrated, I would be too if I was in your situation. Our network is normalising so we should start slowly seeing improvements as the day goes on.

I know it may seem from the forums that there was a mass exodus, but we didn't see a significant spike on signup growth to anticipate that increase in demand that we've seen.

It is entirely plausible that those who moved across were the very heaviest bandwidth users. I have no facts or stats to back that up though. What I can say that the bulk of the increase in demand is from torrents on Uncapped accounts. So again, a desperate plea for everyone to schedule as much P2P overnight as possible. There is tons of unused bandwidth overnight that we're more than happy for everyone to make use of, and will help us make the case for upgrades a lot stronger.

And yet I'm going to keep nagging until we do :P Failing which I'll be leaving and advising my friends who moved to AH with me to do the same. But like I said earlier, I really don't want to have to do this :(

I wanted to move all our company accounts to Afrihost Business as well (as soon as they get the static IP's), but I'm holding off on that until we get the answers we're looking for.
