Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

I have a 10mb line and both Hulu and Netflix are buffering on auto quality. W*F AH! Sent an email to support with speed test info and trace routes only to be told that there are no problems with international latency even though the speed tests show something different. Local speed test to MTN CPT seems fine 1000kb/s down and 100kb/s up? I've loved AH to date but things are going downhill fast.

Shaping Policy: 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P

Remotes to work running on MWEB (234GB and still going strong at 420KB/s), get's in car early Saturday morning with his flash drive to go fetch some drivers and nzb's.

Beyond a joke tonight. Getting 7Kb/s down on an HTTP download. Turbocharging made zero difference so R29 wasted. Not a happy camper right now..... livid would be a better discription. I'ts now officially worse than dialup.....wonderfull

And here I was thinking to myself what would I do with 35KB/s when the 3GB on my mtn uncapped ran out. Well yeah that 35KB/s took my one download down from 14 days and 5 hours to 3 days, wonderfull. :D

Haha so true. Switched to my Vodacom 3G, download when from 4 hours to 3 minutes. And it's only running at 200Kb/s. That's how bad afrihost is......

Buffering Youtube on a 10Mb line. Been using accounts from other ISP for a day or two, and it is definitely a problem with AH.

2:35 am, 24/7 shaping continues onto day 13 now...

http: - 18.8
p2p - 6.25
projected usage - 53gb (4mb account)

Your shaping is getting beyond a joke!

Just get the business account, it costs more but your downloads dont hurt so much

nope, the business account and capped account all suffered this week. not gonna pay more and have the same latency and other frustrations. my normal downloads do still finish overnight, it just sucks when i am at my pc... maybe i am the common denominator here :P

This is getting annoyingly frustrating :(
Messages of vague encouragement, along the lines of "we cannot tell you yet what we are doing, but we are doing something to make things better" are just not enough any more.

Please give us specifics (not mushroom food), even if it is only a vague time line like "coming Wednesday" or "end of November".

PS: I am looking for a reason to put up with all this nonsense but cannot find one though

I was considering moving from a Capped account but going by these responses, that might be a horrible idea :|

Shaping Policy: 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P

You are lucky.

Ok so who next? Axxess, Openweb? On the best isp thing a while back Axxess was second on the list so they must be ok?

Aren't they owned by Afrihost?

Data Used: 15.14 GB
Average Daily Usage: 1.26 GB
Projected Monthly Usage: 39.11 GB

Shaping Policy: No Shaping Applied

1meg line.

Still haven't seen my shaping drop below 75%. Actually finding it hard to believe others are having issues :P

We switched over to afrihost at work recently and we seem to be getting 6.3meg down and 1.4 up. previous ISPs we only got 3.5 meg down and .4 up.

75% Download/ 75% P2P, on a Saturday at 9am. For ****'s sake, Afrihost.

Yep this sucks. Jhb area - 10am on a SATURDAY - Shaping Policy: 25% Download/ 12.5% P2P. Problems started . . . how long . . . 4 weeks ago??

50% download/50% P2P @ 10:50AM on a Saturday.

HTTP download is currently going at 7kb/s.

Afrihost's service has become sub-standard and I will no longer be recommending them as an ISP for friends and family. I think its time find a better ISP.

I wonder if they would have still been voted ISP of the year after this shaping came into effect?

I am deeply disappointed.

Wish mine was on 75% each.
18.8 and 6.25 is ridiculous! !!
13 days worth of that is pathetic.
Afrihost I am getting tired of this, I pay 697pm for dialup download speeds...
Keep this up and im gone on the 24th!!! Getting over this
