Hey Afriguy - sorry, already PMed Afriman :P

Anyway - its really chilled. Afriman is on the job and is trying to sort it out for me. I just posted it here to show what I mean when I say it seems like there is shaping being applied.

Not often no.

I had issues at the start where my speed was all over the place but that was taken care of.

This seems to be something new.

I have no idea what DNS entries I have on the router or pc. I ordered the router already set up from Afrihost and have not changed anything at all. (Also not entirely sure where to go check)

Any help finding the reason for this would be greatly appreciated.

Cape Town speed test:

Download Speed: 2079 kbps (259.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 418 kbps (52.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 50 ms


That is not the kind of speed I expect from a capped account on a 4Mbps line, unfortunately I have no IS account to test with but other people in my area are getting full speed on other ISP's.

Please investigate ASAP as it seems like I am not the only one experiencing this.

You are lucky, this is what I am getting on a 4Mbps uncapped account just across the N1 from you

Download Speed: 705 kbps (88.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 456 kbps (57 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 22 ms

LOL and I thought I had it bad, that is just terrible, and yet Afrihost says on Facebook it's not something on their side, seems like a Cape Town thing, speeds gets poorer by the day.

Might as well move back to a 2Mbps line. :cry:

Have been asked by everybody to ask Telkom to re create my line port have done that over a period of 4 days now, get AH support center to check notices up and down and no improvement, PM's to Afriman no joy, check on my old ISP no problem, account still open as there was a month notice (BTW joined AH some 3.5 weeks ago and only had a bad ride so far) hope this will improve in the next 6 days

Yeah, my line is so bad now, I bet you it's IPC issues again, since alot of people in CPT is getting slow speeds.
