I didn't mind the shaping of torrents and NNTP traffic, not one bit. Heck, shape them to 5% if you must.
What did annoy me immensely was that when I wanted to download an app/driver/etc, it had to do so with 25% HTTP download shaping. Yes, I know many people use RapidShare etc to also get their movie/series/game download fixes but surely it is possible to identify those common URL's and shape them, leaving the others?

We try and be as fair with our shaping as absolutely possible.
If you do need an urgent file downloaded you can always try the Turbocharge session

Well perhaps Afrihost can really come to the party and offer 5 x 30min turbocharges per month for free ;-)
I can certainly relate to the situation where u have a 200mb driver urgently and it feels like trying to get it over dial up because it's during peak times.

What a pleasant surprise. They should market this better. I joined beginning this month and had no clue.
Afri*, can you guys beef up the app a little. Being able to see your current shaping situation and turbo charge from the app would be awesome. The current app has almost no value to uncapped customers.

You're receiving a shaped service, which you are paying for. If you don't like shaping, get a business or capped account.

Any one else having problems streaming Youtube video's ? . Starting happening yesterday. They just wont load !!

Hey . Im on a business uncapped. Torrents going at full speeds. Browsing is fast. I can stream them " other " kinda sites. Dailymotion.com loads. But just checked. Twitch also isn't loading.
Just checked. Able to watch imdb movie trailers.

Try pausing the torrents and viewing a vid. Business accounts do not have QOS, which means that torrents will not be slowed down so that there is bandwidth available for Youtube. The services are probably competing for bandwidth

Everything is paused when im on youtube. Bandwidth meter doesn't move when youtube vid is trying to load. As I said. Its just Twitch and Youtube that isnt working. Every other streaming site ive tried works no problem.

So Secunda in Mpumalanga is also part of the Northern region? Just need to make sure as I advised my brother to sign up with the normal 4 meg uncapped account and his experience has been horrid. My 4 meg business account is flawless. We live in the same town.
