Thanks for the response. It does seem to be better today, but it fluctuates. AH Support have logged a fault with Telkom, so we'll see if there may be something wrong with my line or exchange. Any idea on how long Telkom normally takes to respond to line faults?

Thanks for keeping me posted, glad there's a small improvement being seen :)
The turn around time is entirely dependant on Telkom, it could be a week or two - or 2 months. Depends on their work load and tech availability :(
 
This isn't bad at all, you have 75% of the line speed available for P2P and downloads :)

I misinterpreted this then. As it is normally on 25% and 12.5 or 6.5%

I thought that was the amount you got shaped with and not available line speed....

I've only had my afrihost uncapped account for a few weeks, but I was under the impression that throttling is reset at the start of each month, but I'm shaped at +- 8KB/s today.
 
Well I tried out their sister companies 10mbps product for December, WOW. Cant believe that it's so much better. I don't download much these days since i have Netflix, Hulu, Cloudload etc so streaming is just a absolute pleasure on this axxess 10mbps account. But when I do download I get okeish speeds during the day and awesome speed during the night. Afrihost please mimic your sister company so i can come back. :D
 
Oh and Afrihost, WHY do you charge me R697 for a 4mbps uncapped bundle when your site clearly states it to be R597? Also did the account pause thing for December and yes it was red, paused, inactive the whole of December in clientzone, lo and behold I was billed.

You will still be billed for your line. Also - contact live support - they will correct your package for you :)

yeah, I suppose I should have phrased it differently. Lo and behold I was charged for my uncapped data that was paused hehe.

I also tried them for Netflix and Hulu, but I was shaped from very early in the month. Could not stream at all.
They told me that it is not realtime services and that I am being managed.
Not sure how/why it is working for you...
