No, its not that. I have separate servers in Germany that have nothing to do with Cloudflare or associated networks.

Could you please post some traceroutes that I can escalate. Thus far it's all been on Cloudflare network. perhaps it's the same overseas peering point or CDN - we'd need to investigate :(

Is there a fault with the MTN network as I am unable to access any sites hosted by www.reflected.net, however with a WebAfrica account it works

Switching back and forth between the accounts does not fix it on the Afrihost account

Anybody else that can confirm the same results?

EDIT: It broke about a week or two ago. Before that it worked just fine

That's very strange.
We don't block any traffic on our end, but I see the last two hops are timing out. Perhaps a follow up with their networking department? Might be blocking something on their end?

I wasn't saying it is blocked on your side. Thought maybe a routing issue or peering issue or whatever you want to call it to/from MTN's networks and who ever owns that network since the path through IS' network works fine

Usually if there are routing issues on our end they'll reflect within the MTN hops.
Drop me a PM with your deets though, I'll see if our team can spot anything.

Afrihost in Durban has been working superbly well for the last week. Getting unshaped around 5:30 - 6pm

Long may it Continue :D

What would the consequences be of me stopping my Openweb debit order today or tomorrow so that I can sign up with you guys and not have to pay twice come the 1st of June.

I know u are obviously not going to tell me do either do it or not, but what's the worst that can happen.

Thanks

Seconded, I'm sick of OpenWeb and Afrihost is looking incredibly appealing...

Cant you guys downgrade to like 1GB capped or something, effective from the end of this month? And then just buy an AH account :P

Not sure - my cancellation is already submitted with ref # etc... Is it something you can do on the CP ?

EDIT: Just checked - not something you can do online unfortunately. In fact my CP is so out of date it's not even funny - it still has one of my OLD accounts listed as my current account - says I have no Debit order setup, no CC, no nothing - LOL

I think SagePay collect their money on their behalf anyway.

Afriman, can I get a confirmation that capacity has been increased in KwaZulu-Natal? I was on 4Mbps Uncapped standard but found p2p (torrents and usenet) to be shaped to death from 8am and was still shaped by the time I was going to bed (11pm-12.30am) every day. I'm not sure when shaping was dropped but for me to have a download queue and not even manage 2gigs seems to imply I was shaped well into the night.

I'm currently on 2meg uncapped business but would consider paying R100 extra to go back to 4Mbps Uncapped standard again IF the issue was sorted.

Note that in communications with support on this matter they said that there's no issue, I'd just need to live with the shaping and it's normal (which is complete rubbish as when I first moved to 4Mbps Uncapped Standard, levels of shaping on p2p were acceptable; I don't mind being shaped from 8am-5pm but to be shaped past midnight is ridiculous!).

Thanks for your help

I tested those sites on my mtn uncapped, does not work. It is indeed a mtn issue.

I would never recommend stopping payment with your ISP - bad for your credit rating (if they do credit bureaus) and just never good to end a relationship like that. Best to make sure that you move in accordance with their cancellation process.

I'm not sure if you totally meant that, but I think it's an important note just in case :(

Our data is activated instantly, so you can sign up with us on the day or day before your old ISP data expires :)

yeah - guess its the best huh !

Is port 443 being shaped? I use to be able to get full speed line speed (4 meg line) during any time of the day. But since their was an IPC issue on Monday, I've only been able to get around half of my normal 400kbps.

I really hope its not being shaped. I need the port for work. And no, I can't consider a business uncapped, since I my the line to make business calls as well as browse the net.
