Shaped 25% Download/ 12.5% P2P and its 12.18 am

This calls for additional Capacity for the East IPC, this is getting ridiculous now. Demand is super high compared to available capacity. Please Afriman, please apply more pressure on Telkom to provide additional Capacity ASAP.

Nope :(

They cannot provide an ETA as they are waiting on MTN's word. In my opinion, it should be soonish though :)
I know, I understand all the technical contraints they have to work with and that alot of it is out of their direct control, but we moved back to AH from TI to get away from exactly this kind of nonsense. And seeing as we're paying more for AH Uncapped than any other ISP in the country charges, I don't think it's unfair to rant now and then :P
I don't have any intention of moving away from AH again (it still remains my favourite ISP despite of the shaping) but I seriously hope things change for the better soon. Realtime services and browsing is affected too, eventhough it shouldn't be. Netflix reaches HD only occasionally (it never reaches superHD though, and this is a 10mb line...), but browsing isn't doing well.

Bro are you studying anything IT related we are all wondering? :D

Nothing directly networking related, but I am doing a bit of programming. Everything I post here is self learnt through the ancient art of breaking things :D more commonly referred to as trial and error :P

Its strange that browsing is not affected? Did you say that it works perfectly on a capped account?

I moved over from a 75gig capped account to an uncapped account 3 days ago. My main use is for Netflix. I migrated because it's been stated several times that real time services are not affected by shaping and so on. So may as well move over as I use 100 to 180 gig/month.

After using Netflix with uncapped, I'm absolutely positive that Netflix (realtime) is affected by shaping. Despite Afrihost saying it's not.

While on my capped account (over past 12 months) I could get anywhere between Netflix 480sd to 720p picture quality on a 4 meg line. Which is fine for me.
As soon as I switched over to uncapped I get 240SD, 288SD or 320SD(lower resolutions). I can't get 720p or 480sd. This was more noticeable when shaping was applied to the account yesterday night (18% download/6% P2P) between 8pm and 11pm.

I have no exchange issues either.

Is it fair to say that you simply can't run Netflix on Afrihost Uncapped with decent picture quality? It appears that Realtime services are indeed shaped on uncapped.
I'm happy I'm using uncapped, but I'm irritated that I went there because Afrihost claim Realtime is not affected, when it is.

I can stream 480/720 on my 2Mbps Uncapped
