Can anyone else test this please.

Using latest version of Chrome x64 and playing youtube using html 5 player - videos are shaped. Cannot get more than 25kB odd....

Whacking full speed (3.6mbit) on Chrome 64bit HTML5. Sometimes opening a new page for a clip, line speed will get "stuck" at ~600kbit. A page refresh fixes it.

Forcing it to use flash player or using firefox which still uses flash by default, and youtube flies at full 440kB.

This was not a problem a week ago...

Very strange, but something I think should be checked please.

Shouldn't be any issues around this, I know some changes where tweaked last night to improve YouTube.

Sweet stuff.

Nope...spoke too soon. Still busted.

My YT chrome is v40.x.x.x

What is yours?

Version 39.0.2171.71 m (64-bit). Also says it's up to date. Isn't v40 beta release?
This is what is confusing.

On my one pc, an intel system, I download the chrome x64 installer and run it and it installed v39 like you have.

I download that same installer and run it on another pc of mine, amd APU system, and it installs v40...

Very damn weird.

Anyway. Will play about, refresh, clean and clear and all the usual.

Well im starting to regret coming back to afrihost
the past days speeds have been horrendous
takes over a minute just to open Google and i can forget about trying to open any normal web page

the only time anything seems to work is while im asleep ?

If you run a speedtest with your account, what sort of speeds are you seeing?

I've had my account now for 3 days and out of the 3 days the net has been pretty slow 2 of them
so slow that i can barely do anything , my line is still being migrated to afrihost so i cannot do the test on the client zone

it seems my downloads work ok during the night , i can still play my games too
but i cant do anything else at all
not even open google most of the time

Those latencies on the second hop are definitely worrisome, that kinda looks like there may be an issue on your line.

Have you had any problems in the past with the line?

well it is a new line
so no previous problems to look back on

it worked fine the first day then this started

Props Afrihost.

Don't know if some of your fixes last night influenced Mumble or not, but the experienced tonight was a LOT better. Still not where it should be, but the service was usable on uncapped.

Mmm... I'm hesitant to type this, in case I jinx it.

Whatever you've done... It's working. Mumble, no lag. SMITE game, no lag.

Just tested STO. Some stuff is a lot better, but it still times out during Loading into game after Login. Couldn't get any deeper in to check the actual performance in game. I'll do more testing tomorrow night, but so far so good.

Whacking full speed (3.6mbit) on Chrome 64bit HTML5. Sometimes opening a new page for a clip, line speed will get "stuck" at ~600kbit. A page refresh fixes it.

I'm seeing this as well. With the recent changes to Chrime and Firefox, only IE saturates my line for basic browsing which is a really weird thing to see when you're comparing them side-by-side.

The 2nd hop indicates that latency is present before you actually get onto the MTN network, so it's likely that the local exchange is congested, especially if the line is new.

Glad to hear this. Yesterday was focussed mainly on gaming traffic, so I think it's likely that misidentified P2P traffic was picked up for multiple services.

Please do test more for us. The more data we have the better.

That's pretty interesting. Would love to see those tests, for my own interest :)

I don't often give Afrihost compliments but you're getting one this time. After my whole packet loss debacle a week ago which is now fixed, I hope, I have noticed that my ping to Europe and Russia is lower by 20-40ms. Europe: 200ms from 230-240. Russia: 250ms from 270-280.

Have you guys changed your routing? Or was this decrease in ping due to my Telkom box being played around with.

Some tweaks have been made, not 100% sure on how this would affect latency. But overall, the experience should be getting much better. Great to hear you're seeing improvements on your end :D
