Why is it that my download speed from news servers never exceed 14Kbps? I have a 4Mb uncapped home account.
This is even when downloading from Afrihost news server. Turbocharge does nothing.

Any other protocols? Are http downloads okay?

http downloads are following the shaping protocols. It looks like i get a major burst in nntp speeds at some odd hours of the morning as I managed to download about 5Gb between 1am and around 7am.

Serious issues on AH at the moment.
Certain sites not available, especially overseas https... have also been struggling to get into Nedbank internet banking site. Links to my VPS in the US are also non-existent, or extremely slow... currently can only get speeds of 40kB/s (normally speeds of 1MB/s). SSH connections time out, and FTP is even worse.

All so-called "real-time" services struggle to play even the most basic resolutions (240p buffers like crazy).

All this on a so-called "premium" 10MB Business Uncapped account??? :wtf:
...oh yes.... ALL OTHER ISP ACCOUNTS WORK PERFECTLY ON THE SAME LINE - not a Telkom problem :(

MTN DNS issues????? AGAIN :(

05/25, 11h50, Pta East: AH dead in the water, cannot connect. Also, trying to access their website from tablet via 3g states ssl authentication issue, cannot open website uploadfromtaptalk1401011431834.jpg:mad::mad::mad:

Line keeps dropping and internet cutting out since 3 or so this afternoon? Are there hassles in the Eastern Cape area by any chance?

So after reviewing my usage over the last few months I hardly go over 100gb in a month. This partly because of downloads being shapped and partly because I dont have all that much I like to download. So two options. I can pay more and get business line and hopefully get more stuff downloaded. Or I can go capped and stick to 100 gb a month. Any suggestions?

Since I'm back on normal (non business) uncapped I find my traffic volume have reduced to the point where capped is cheaper. Might give axxess a try.

Latency is good, but about 25% drop in performance tonight:

Reported it via ClientZone as well. This is becoming more and more frequent. Afrihost running out of capacity?

I think Axxess is owned by Afrihost and on the same Mtn network. But yeah they worked pretty good for me over December.

All ISP's work well over December as everyone is away on holiday and no load on the networks and is not the right time to judge true performance, January is a different story.

You will definitely have a better experience on capped, but seeing they both on MTN, and you get double the data with AH, then it's a no-brainer to me to stick with AH.

Sheesh Afrihost are shaping real time services big time. They did so well yesterday, and now its back to being awful :(
