Hey, It's time for me to have signed up a new ISP account. So I'm thinking about going for AH uncapped DSL. Is P2P unshaped at every night? Always? If yes, then I'm in
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
Riiiiigghhhht....Something tells me you didnt even open my attachments cause I have no idea where those ping figures come from...so let me type it out for you. (So dont preach service and good value to me)
Local server - the other co was 14ms vs your 15ms
International - the other co was 232ms vs your 206ms (take note the 232ms was further away server)
Ping here is not an issue, but traffic is - DL/UP of other co is 152mb in 16mins with average DL of 81kb/s and UL of 74kbs
Afrihost is 71mb at 15mins with DL of 34kb/s and UP of 44kbs....
So I can download more double the capacity in the same time with a DL speed that is faster then an UL speed and 240% faster then afrihost.
Your testing of your new shaping policies is going to result in a very very angry (more then now) market if it becomes permanent.

The figures I was quoting was approximate difference between the two accounts. The pics were displayed in the post, so I didn't need to open any attachments, if that is the confusion.
I'm not really understanding why your posts are seeming angry. Seems like you have made up your mind, I'm not sure what you are looking for here.
We start dynamically unshaping after 10pm, depending on the demand at any given time. We usually see everyone shaped more lightly after this time, and then completely from around 11pm to midnight - again, depending on demand.
I am not understanding your post...how do you get to approximate difference's of 0.2Mbps or 32ms when there is no real differance in PING between the two co....? Please stop answering questions with around the bush answers. There is a big differance between 0.2Mbps, 32ms and 15ms....
You answer my previous post that I must choose between 0.2Mbps or 32ms making it out that the 0.2Mbps is the other Co and the 32ms is Afrihost, ie the better....when as I retyped it is not the fact.
I honestly believe you are not reading the posts in depth and scanning over them just to give an answer so that afrihost is seen as a quick responder to queries.

WtfI accidentally purchased a 2Mb Uncapped DSL account via my ClientZone. I've cancelled it but it says that I must wait until the end of this month
No confirmation popups before clicking purchase! This is totally unethical.
Afriman, can you undo the cancellation?![]()
Yes please screenshot. Add OS, browser and whether you are using HTML5 or Flash. If you can. Can you check the Youtube clips that I posted and see if those play at full 440kB/s ?
If other users have no problem on the same clips, then something on my account has not been done correctly.
As I said, the figures I gave was the difference between some of the values quoted. So speed A minus Speed B, and Ping A minus ping B, to give an idea of the perceived difference in performance. That is what I was referring to.
Sorry if you didn't read that in my answer, so let me repeat, I am not replacing your posted figures (which were clearly visible in your post and not in dispute). I was mentioning the differences between them, both for and against us, in saying it's up to you how what is more important. Some people will sacrifice a little throughput for better gaming ping, especially for international traffic. Others want the max their line can give for downloads and ping is irrelevant as long as it's reasonable.
Thanks for the info. Don't worry about the clips. AfriMan put me through to critical care and it seems we may have found the problem.Sure thing man. Can do all that for you.
What I can note so far.
Win7, FF, Flash.
I run flash in FF purely because the HTML5 in FF currently is a bit borked for my personal liking.
And I use FF because for some reason Chrome on my system does not run at full speed when youtube streaming...this only happens when there is slight congestion on the exchange in my area. With no congestion Chrome runs like ice
Please post those links again if you don't mind...I think they got lost a few pages back?
what did you use give me links to the tools let me run them too, I'm also suffering shaping in peak times even so that some vids/streams don't work and dota 2 internationals are starting is shaping is going to influence my streaming capability I'm going to go bat **** crazyI am not understanding your post...how do you get to approximate difference's of 0.2Mbps or 32ms when there is no real differance in PING between the two co....? I don't believe there is a problem with streaming. With the case we've been most talking about here in the thread, the issue was not with shaping or the network but with the individual account/connection. I am sure that if you're having streaming problems we can figure it out. All my tests show that we're getting excellent local and international throughput and latency.
This ^ Also, when this is resolved and it's what I and Critical Care think. Apologies out the ass for you AfriMan. You are going to have apologies all over the place from me.
