This is really awesome - thanks for putting this together. We'll need to chat about that 6Mbps line :)
 
My new AH Uncapped 2MB account is flying like a F-22 Raptor jet-fighter. Literally :p
 
So I went ahead and upgraded to 20mbps, and cancelled my uncapped account, will use it until the end of the month and then switch over to capped. Goodbye to shaping, and most likely this thread. Thanks to afriman for putting up with my periodic moaning :p

Telkom are confirming lots of outages this evening :(
The following areas are officially listed 031 - 263, 500, 507, 530, 301, 304, 305, 306, 307, 500, 510 and 032 - 586, 946

032 is back up and running.
 
Hi AfriPeeps, I'm thinking about migrating to you guys at the end of the month but I am one of those that have been emancipated from DSTV. My needs are almost completely streaming from Nethflix, Hulu, SkyGo, YouTube and very importantly XBMC (1channel, icefilms, project free tv). Im on a 10mb line and in the southern suburbs (CPT) and was wondering if the 10mb home uncapped will meet my needs because its pretty much my max budget in terms of price?

I see you PTA east...what area you in? I stay in the moreletta park/elaruspark area, and 10mb has been with us since beginning of last year....grant, at 10mb sync there is a lot of noise on the line. they still need to upgrade the lines for a nice smootjh 10mb, but currently syncing at 6 is possible.

Pretorius Park here, yeah I have been stuck on 6 for 3 years on a 10mbps profile, downgraded my ADSL to 4mbps when I was informed I could save R100 a month and yeah, my open 10mbps spot was gone lol. But it is ok like that, not like 10mbps is affordable anyway.

We prioritise streaming on Uncapped, and we don't ever shape streaming traffic. At the moment we're seeing pretty good streaming performance. It really depends on how stable your line is and which DNS provider you are using. There are a few to choose from. Some seem to work better for Netflix than Hulu, and vice versa.

Thanks, my line is pretty stable as I'm close to the exchange and I use unotelly for my dns needs. So all is well with XBMC streaming because my life will be made miserable if the SO can't watch her shows on XBMC.

I am on a 10 mbit home uncapped bundle and having the same requirements. I too am close to the exchange and am using Netflix and XBMC streaming.

Up to now I had no issues with my line regarding streaming. I stream HD via Icefilms without buffering so you should be good.
