Is steam meant to be shaped as well?
Check for us please whether you're experiencing the "testing" in the shaping policy in clientzone during the day?
All Uncapped accounts will be shaped from 7:30am to 10pm, regardless of how much data has been moved or any amount of inactivity. However, if the account is not being used, it will reflect the last shaping policy active when the account was last used. Once data is moved, it will fall in line with the current shaping regime.
Anyway, only 13 sleeps before I see the last of this company![]()
Afriman, I am not sure if the couple of MyBB users that is leaving at the end of the month hurts you guys financially and all, or if it is enough to notice that the current situation on your home products is not working at all. I think it's time you guys call a meeting and revisit this shaping policy of yours. Remember us few here are the one's that tell others to use x isp, product etc.... and in all fairness I can not recommend you guys with the current state the Network is in. Even on my good line I notice YouTube and netflix buffering, and that's not a good sign at all.
I don't know about the financial side, but any client leaving us dissatisfied hurts us, so we do take this seriously. I guess in business there are hard choices to make at times, but I have seen our management choose making our clients happy over profits time and time again. Our motivation behind what we're doing is to give more to clients and improve their experience.
I can't wait either. It is going to be a long 13 days. You can barely surf on these accounts, and the pages upon pages of people complaining about streaming issues, tells us the even streaming is not working on this account. These accounts literally useless for 16 to 18 hours a day.
I see Axxess is also shaping everyone to death. It makes me think MTN has either reduced both companies avaliable international bandwidth, or they have increased the cost, and Afrihost and Axxess can't afford it.
I miss the days of the IPC issues, because home uncapped accounts worked better then than they do now.
I was a really big supporter of Afrihost, but they have done a 180 in space of a month. It breaks my heart to see their uncapped accounts become worse than MWEB or even Telkoms.
The fact that Afrihost's fearless leader Gian, has remained stone silent about this debacle, tell you a lot about the situation. Afrihost is quite happy to let their clients leave. They basically put up no fight. It is very disheartening.
Clearly, this time they made the wrong choice.
I think time will tell, but I believe if there is a flaw in their thinking they will pull something out of the hat. They always do, and I've learned to trust in that.

AfriMan you know I respect you and all, but when a 9 year old notice's that the network degraded so much that nothing works as it did (yes she did point that out to me that in the past she never had issues and dad must fix it) then you know something is wrong. I rarely download, only stream.

Let's hope they do "pull something out of the hat".
Lots of loyalists like myself are leaving. I understand your point about having to continually add capacity, however your management seems to missing the point completely.
People who buy uncapped accounts do anything but use it exclusively for browsing. That is the point of buying uncapped.
One can easily step down to something like a 10G account for browsing exclusively.
Their shaping policy changed?
What is it now?

For the moment we are blanket shaping Uncapped users from 7:30am to 10pm daily. After 10pm, we are using the dynamic system to manage shaping according to realtime demand.
And how hard is the shaping being applied and is it across all protocols?
