I've pretty much given up with afrihost
i spend more time not able to do anything online then actual use

my line is "upgraded" monthly without any consent , no matter how many times i ask for what i ordered ( 2mb line)
I've been overcharged ever month for the last 4 months

pretty pathetic

think its time to move to a more reliable ISP

Ye I think I'm officially over this now. Downloads are great but streaming and gaming are the worst I've ever had.

I second this. The last few days the downloads have been amazing - with zero shaping active - but YouTube and streaming has been atrocious.

I have the same problem: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...treaming-is-rubbish-for-me-Alternatives/page2

At around 8:30 last night I had problems watching youtube vids in 360p on a 4mb line. I can watch vids from other sites perfectly fine, just not youtube. So the line is working fine... guess what support wants me to do... yes, a bunch of speedtests and to try turboboost even though I explained I already did all of that and even tried the 1gb free account with no difference when I submitted my ticket. They didn't even read my ticket properly.

Furthermore, in the clientzone it says that no shaping is being applied, but the support person said that there is shaping being applied. Somewhere something is broken so I sent a screen shot with my reply, but a waste of time as usual....

Just read in the Capped thread that they had YouTube playing from the wrong Google cache. So I'm thinking it was not playing from local, but international sources. However I wonder why this would then cause the performance to be so damn abysmal.

Anyway. Hope they fix this soon.

:( My apologies that our Support Team put you through the unnecessary testing, we are working hard to get the routing to the Google Services updated to use the local caches, you should see an improvement very soon.

I CANNOT DESCRIBE THE RAGE RIGHT NOW!!!!! IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!

...

I understand your frustration, but this is not affecting all of our users, and our Team will have this sorted very soon.

Do you really understand my frustration? Do you? How does, "this is not affecting all of our users" make it any better??

I've been loyal to AfriHost through all the problems (Yes, I've complained, but I haven't closed my account and moved on). I've even recommended AfriHost to any friends asking for a suggestion for ISP.

You guys really need to get your act together. Something is not working well within AfriHost, and it's not necessarily technology.

It definitely does not make it better, I was simply pointing out that this is not as widespread as the issues that we had with our IPC and network management software.

I really appreciate your loyalty, and I understand that we have not always made it easy for you to stick with us, in the coming weeks and months we will be making it up to our clients and users.

Hats off to critical care for trying their best but I'm just done with this as a product. The most poor gaming and streaming I've yet experienced with ADSL. Terrible and I'm done.

I really am sorry to hear that. :(

I hope you find a product that suites your needs better than your current solution.

Thanks for the response. Is there a way for me to test this from my end?

ok... rant over.

Can we have a rough ETA on when we expect everything to be resolved?
b.t.w, your website still saying that everything is fine on DSL land...

I don't think it will be an issue for much longer, the solution for this specific issue is being implemented in the next few hours.

Well as long as this solution - by some unseen measure - does not impact the perfect gaming experience I've been having.

No problems on Mumble, no ping spikes...no damn nothing. It's been flawless.

PLEASE keep it this way! Though I suspect it's because there has been no shaping...

:)

Everything should remain very close to what you are experiencing at the moment.
