To add - My YouTube is slow/buffering on AH but downloads are fine while on Mweb, YouTube is fine.

Just funny that when you look at the Mweb, it has 1 jiggle for the exchange hop. So why is AH being so unreliable and literally the day after your network has shyte? Wasn't an issue before you had yesterdays snafu.

Latency can vary, but the exchange is something that we can't control. Also when a new account is entered it'll reset the port which sometimes normalises the latency. It'll be best to keep running these tests :(

kk, will keep at it ..... hope it comes right because I've had an almost blissful couple weeks with my AH account :(

I'm sure we can nail down where the problems are coming in :) I'd say for consistencies sake, keep your other account in your router until mid-day, running a traceroute every now and then - just need to see how the 2nd hop behaves over time.

So you guys had that issue yesterday which I assume you are now on failovers? Is the proper full bandwidth links back up or are you still operating on failovers with lower bandwidth?

We had to switch to failover links yesterday morning due to an international link seeing some issues. We've been back on the primary link since early evening yesterday though.

Well my wow ping is great here, so no complaints

Youtube was a little slow and had to buffer a bit, but I always seem to get that with Afrihost. Its just one of those things unfortunately.

Hhhmm, while I'm glad your pings are good - YouTube shouldn't really buffer :( What line speed do you have?

Really? The AfriStatus showed reduced bandwidth issue last night. Performance was VERY bad last night. Fine during the day though.

The primary link came back at around 5pm, re-routing traffic took place after that - it isn't always a quick change though :( Sorry about the poor performance last night, it may have just been the left overs from earlier. Are you still seeing degraded throughput this morning?

No performance like browsing and youtube is fine. Download is shaped but that's to be expected at this time in the morning.
I was just asking :)

Can someone please give me some feedback regarding daytime speeds that I can expect ito http downloads on a 4Mbps account?
I will route through Cape Town.

It depends on the day, when the network is busy (mostly during peak times) downloads may be a little slower as it'll be shaped. Looking at usage in the South now though, while we are shaping, it's quite light.

Thx for the reply, but I would like some real life speeds.

What does that mean for a 4 Mbps line ito average times.
A little slower for me is between 320KB - 380KB/s or is a little slower 15KB/s?

It's hard to give you exact speeds. If and when shaping is implemented it'll shape down downloads and P2P. Depending on the level of shaping, P2P can be shaped down to 6.25% of your line. It all depends how busy the network is at any time,
Just remember that when shaping is on it's max you can always use a Turbocharge sessions which unshapes the line for the next hour.
