can't access the control panel for some reason?

You mean the ClientZone? It looks to be up from my side.

Are you having difficulty logging in? Or is it broken when you have logged in?
 
Morning Guys!

I'm sure you guys noticed the mishap on Saturday, basically two of the highly important servers that regulates the bandwidth management suffered an emergency shutdown, this caused all new sessions from about 04h40 on Saturday to be assigned to fallback bandwidth which caused the slow speeds for those new sessions. The issue was resolved in a few hours, but our system had to start working through all new active sessions, and disconnect them to ensure that the users were re-assigned to the correct bandwidth group. This happened again on Sunday evening, but this was resolved within a hour.

If you are still seeing slower than normal throughput, powering down your ADSL modem for 30 seconds, then powering it on again should get you running at full speed again.

Needless to say I am really sorry guys, this is definitely not a cool thing to have happen, and we're taking extremely thorough changes to make sure this does not happen again.

If you are still seeing performance that is not up to scratch please let me know!

Hi, I am still experiencing extremely slow speeds on a 4mb uncapped line. I have been in contact with Afrihost support and we tried some things (test accounts, speed tests, tracert etc) but it hasn't worked. Just saw your post above and have reset router a few times to no avail.

Support informed me that they have received numerous complaints of reduced capacity. Is this still an issue and is there an ETA on when it could be resolved?

Anyone else having issues with anything Google related on AH? If I use another isp, there's no probs.
 
NOw i cant VPN to my office with Afrihost, but works with Webafrica. Really, this account is useless to me now.

Seems i can connect to all servers between 12am-6am.

Just got back home now and it's dropping all games again. Im on the uncapped 10mb service, just checked my router stats and i'm only on around 47gb, 20gb uploaded 28gb downloaded.

The funny thing is, on speed test results I will get normal speeds, then next to nothing. I just did a test ping test and normal results. Same with browsing etc. Gaming cant even connect and any sort of download either doesn't connect or it is less than dial up speed.

Edit: Cant totally confirm but things seem to be back to normal now... will update soon if it isn't.

Update: Browsing, youtube etc works normally. Any torrent/download or online gaming doesnt work. It is not only slow it doesnt even connect in most instances.

I'm having allot of issues with our account.

The shaping is so bad that we can't load Google search/YouTube and a few other sites. I know it's shaping because speedtest shows us getting our full line speed.

There are 6 of us using the line so we use allot of data, i think last month was about 250GB, so i don't mind being shaped. However, we are being shaped 24/7 now and it's slower than dial-up.. I thought shaping was supposed to lift at night?

It's 12:30AM and it took me 20 mins to google mybroadband.. Is this an error with our shaping profile, or is Afrihosts shaping always this severe?
