Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Youtube is crawling again tonight. 10Mbps business uncapped. Not POC. Speedtest ok about 8Mbps. Max 100kbps on YouTube.

There seems to be a problem with international links. If i do a speedtest to a local server, it shows 3.2 Mbps, but if I select a server in London, the test actually aborts half way though. Though it shows a connection speed of 0.14 Mbps at the time of the abort.

Welcome to MyBB :)
International links look good from what I can see. If you're still having a problem with poor throughput this morning drop me a PM with your account info and I can run a few checks from there.

Firstly, AfriGenie, please help. On AfriGreen. Getting 10kb/s upload to dropbox. I can't even stream 240p via youtube. Steam downloads at little over 40kb/s.

Just opening this MyBB page took 22 seconds. The adverts load up one by one.

On my Samsung S5, playstore downloads app/updates at about 60kb/s.

Basically, I'm getting a terrible internet experience.. Can you please grant me some magical bandwidth?

My life every evening is dedicated to at least 45 minutes on MyBB forums, looking for any ray of hope coming from Afrihost, and trying to figure out if anyone else is also having terrible speed problems. For the amount of testing that clients are doing, Afrihost should be reimbursing clients for every test. (Obviously not possible, I am being sarcastic, but Afrihost clearly needs to pull the huge carrot out from it's bottom.)

I switched to a borrowed Vox test account, and boom, every single protocol runs at 3.6MB/s. (Don't care about torrents, so didn't test that)

Secondly, AfriGenie, is Gian going to step up to the plate and provide another feedback about the situation? Is there a measurable and important statistic that clients have disconnected Afrihost's services? I know you obviously can't provide this, but are people within the business taking note?

Edit: Holy crap. I edited this post, clicked saved, and waited 18 seconds before the save went through.

Evening!

Looks like your session has been open for close to 48 hours. I've reset it from my side, can you please restart your modem quickly and test the connection to see if there is any change.

Does an open session for 48 hours matter? Does this mean that I need to contact Afrihost every 48 hours to reset my account?

Edit: The line now magically works.. I didn't even touch my router. I don't know if I should be annoyed or happy.

Edit2: And... Just spoke to soon. Speed has deteriorated again, but not as bad. Getting 100kb/s.

I'm not picking up an authenticated session on your modem at the moment. Are you still connecting using the AfriGreen account?

Yep, I'm using AfriGreen. Still experiencing the same issues.

Should I try rebooting the router again?

I've also noticed over the last week my YouTube streaming went back to 240p auto and chugging a bit at 360p. I noted that even though I'm not using the normal AH account but rather the Green account, my usage is projected over, both as though I'm using double the data, it's currently predicting that my month usage will be 300gb+ and shaping of 18&6% is being applied

Remember that your AfriGreen and Afrihost product share the same data allocation, so usage on the one affects the other and the data links should be identical in terms of data allocated, so shaping index will be calculated regardless of which account you use that allocation on.

Should not be affecting YouTube as a realtime, unshaped service :(

@AfriMan

Gooday.
I have currently my e-mail with you guys. I would like to keep it that way.
I moved over to Telkom mobile LTE.
If I open my outlook I receive mail but can't send.
Are there any smtp setting that need to be changed. Meaning I can receive and send e-mail.

Regards
