10mb uncapped, Durban:

YouTube - Full speed
speedtest.net - Full speed
torrent/p2p - max 250kBps
newsgroups/nntp - max 250kBps

Well this is definitely a step in the right direction.. I can happily say I'm being shaped and not completely throttled :)

Hopefully the shaping rules will relax once things settle down, because 7pm on a Saturday night is not usually a common shaping time, by most good ISP's standards. Unless of course, the network is at capacity, which according to Afrihost, they aren't.

Again, its a step in the right direction.. far better than being throttled to 250kBps all-round, but this is shaping behaviour you'd expect at say, 12:00pm on a Tuesday

getting much better speed now 185KB which is not 210KB ... but certainly much.much better than 60KB ... def a step in the right direction .... but is it only temporary??

havent seen speeds like this ever, thanks for helping out, assessment done, all thaks to the below

Test conducted on 17 November 2012 23:05
Download Speed: 3412 kbps (426.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 416 kbps (52 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 174 ms

makes a change from the normal 0.6mbps on a 4mb line with less than 10gb used sofar...

Hi maybe someone here can help me. I'm looking to switch to 2mb ADSL uncapped. I've done my research and so far I'm struggling between Openweb(Gold) for quality and slightly higher price Web Africa or Afrihost.

Can anyone tell me there experiences with Afrihost? I'm in Cape Town Wynberg if anyone from the area has this package that would be even better

PS: I use the line for surf, work, P2P and online gaming. I'm a 15year old in a 20 somethings body. I need a service that gives me more than reliable access to my e-mail twice a day.
I get shaping and understand it's purpose during business hours (I don't understand throttling a protocol to 0 during these times)
I see myself as a medium user "Okay to be fair above medium" (I've gawked at friends with 400-500gig use a month) guess porn really eats into your bandwidth :P

Thx in advance for any advice:)

Dunno who did what, but since 10pm last night my AH account is running like a dream. Everything just beautiful. Fingers crossed, hope it stays this way.

getting good speeds on torrents.

Hm, neither speed nor latency are back to old levels yet. At least speedtest.net recognizes me as a capetonian now but 60ms ping to a MTN server in town is like 4 times slower than usual. And speed down from almost 4 MB to 3,5 ... pfffrz. Still not the happiest of bunnies.
Oh, and gaming is really not up to the old awesomesauce. AH, please do something or set my connection back to IS.

Am in Cape Town, and torrent speeds are terrible. Torrents were fine early in the week, but since Friday I've been capped to 30kb/s (1mb line) or below (am currently 25kb/s). Afriman - have PMed you my details.

Getting useless speed and experience here in PE

EDIT - Oops, sorry AfriHost :)
Did a Speedtest.net check on my Ipod and it DEFINITELY was not the same as the PC test!
Everything is actually normal and running fine :)

The latency won't improve until early next year...
