Also getting decent speed today. If it continues I'll think about cancelling my cancelation :D

Speeds this morning were great on my uncapped 4 meg. They maxed out my line. But in the past hour I've watched my download speed drop from 400 to 250, from 250 to 120, and now from 120 to 60kbps. I'm guessing the network is congested.

Maybe at your dslam, still going strong here.

Scratch that. Performance has gone back to sad levels again. Peaked at 21kB/s! Flying like an ostrich. Other ISP's still ok so its not my line.

And now 30kB

the crappy thing is that my nntp downloads are flying at 400kB/s+

http seems to be throttled to around 30kB/s

One thing a lot of people seem to think is that Uncapped must perform better than capped at all times, and it must be able to run full tilt all the time. I cannot imagine that this is what the ISPs have in mind? If you want guaranteed performance, go for fibre or leased line and get what you pay for. ADSL has contention ratios and is a best effort service based on the behaviour of others sharing the service with you, right?

I don't think any of us are thinking that, frankly. We full-well know that it's a contended service.

However, I would suspect most of us also have experience with other ISPs' uncapped offerings, as well as with Afrihost's before the switch to MTN. Also, many of us aren't morons...

I expect to get what I pay for and what is advertised...

Also expect to get an ADSL service that is of international standards, if not speeds...
