Ok, lets just make something clear, the problem wasnt the move from IS to MTN, the problem is their shaping policies. When they moved to MTN I was getting faster speeds then with IS. My suggestion is that you move to Business uncapped if you can, my speeds are maxed with business, I was getting 5KB/s 20mins before i moved to the business uncapped and this was with the 4meg bundle, I moved over to the 2meg business uncapped and a while later I was downloading at 190 KB/s.

Why? Why must we pay more for a service we should be getting on standard uncapped. I can just pay the same amount to openweb , mweb , plugg etc and receive the service that i expect.

Like I said, its only a suggestion, I was to late to cancel my account, this was my solution until the end of this month(25th), so that I can move.

Fair enough but personally i would rather suffer for a month than give Afrihost more money at this point in time. Im currently trialing an openweb account which is performing superbly. The only reason im giving Afrihost until the 25th of December is because i have been with them for 2 years. If things havent improved by then i will be on my merry way to Openweb.

Test conducted on 26 November 2012 21:16
Download Speed: 715 kbps (89.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 351 kbps (43.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 312 ms

Seriously, this is getting worse......

Keep in mind I'm on a 10Mbit line

Itai. you are on a 10MB line and you can not even get 384KB line that is sad. I can only get a 2MB line here in Margate and if I can get the same speeds as you I would be lucky. having to use my axxess backup account where I get my full line speed. it is so sad.

350 kB/s on int torrents

pings are good and so are http dl's

Hmmm ... I also get crappy speeds on my WA 2GB Capped account, but if I use the Afrihost capped account, my speeds are "fine".

Honestly, I'm starting to think the issue is because of the Telkom upgrades at the interchange ... peoplez downloading the interwebz with the new fast internetz they got!

@Afriman - give us an honest answer to what the story is, and what we can expect.
Oh - and given how terrible this month has been, think you should offer your uncapped clients a month's free access. But only after you fix your network.

+1

You can't expect people to pay for a service, but give them excuses instead.

I'm positively surprised this morning. I'm reaching 200kB/s download speeds on a 2Mbps line. Let's see how long it lasts :)

I just realised why my internet connection has been working so great today... After losing electricity for a couple of hours yesterday, my router had for some reason reverted to my prepaid Plugg account :D

my line is perfectly fine. getting sub 100KB down on a 1meg line and ive done nearly 25 gb in the short while ive had the account... 2 weeks on friday i think :/ works out to just over 2gb per day

I am enjoying my Trial Openweb account. Was going at 950KB/s during the day yesterday and all weekend!! Did over 100gigs as I normally did on IS! Luckily I cancelled before the 25th! Bye Afrihost!
