Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

As Afriman seems to be repeating until he turns blue, shaping is tied to the load coming from your region, the demand for bandwidth at any given moment and the manner in which you consume bandwidth.

Would everyone in the general Pretoria Region refrain from using the internetz, mine are leaking through the shaping crack.

Anyone else's torrents super slow?

Mine running less than 1kB/s a last 24 hours.

10 meg uncapped

Shaped at this side as well. 6.5% P2P....Now it seems to happen constantly. Am i the only one thinking it's a bit weird that we could bypass a overloaded IPC with a few extra Rands "Turbocharge"? It's a great idea but it seems to have the potential for misuse by Afrihost.

Shape the area and claim it's IPC usage. So now people buy Turbocharges to bypass shaping and Afrihost makes a killing. LoL maybe I'm just paranoid they would never do that....right?

No!
You buy Turbo boost to bypass shaping.
If you don't want shaping then get Capped or Business Uncapped, no shaping there.

Fair but where does the additional capacity from Turbocharges come from? If shaping is applied at capacity fulled IPC's and we use Turbocharges to bypass the shaping then there should be additional capacity without having to pay.

And this is the South African response..."If you don't want shaping then get Capped or Business Uncapped"
That wasn't the question but thanx anyway.

Well my shaping has relaxed again, thank you general Pretoria region for staying off the internet. My internetz are no longer escaping :)

If you have an Uncapped account, you will always get 5 free Turbocharge sessions every month. Only in New ClientZone, in Connectivity under the specific Uncapped account :)

I activated those turbo boosts on my account but it still send me a Invoice for R29.00? I thought 5was free?

For a new IPC in the area, it ain't lekker that so fast , so much capacity is now used up. Seems its more aimed towards capped accounts. I believe business accounts are only unshapped from 8am-5pm which also doesn't help afterhours.

Hi

For some reason I am shaped, but I haven't been using that much?

I know the shaping system works on the usage in area etc, etc. But seriously, 30.8GB in 15 days is not enough to shape someone on a 10Meg line. Last month I had used much more by this point with no shaping?

I am in the Cape Town area.

???

Please note that the shaping percentage indicated in ClientZone is the % of total line speed. So 12,5% of a 10Mbps line is 1,28Mbps

Can you please clarify. Meaning i'll get 10 mbps - 1.28 mbps, or I will only get 1.28 Mbps. The latter seems slightly harsh

We just went through all the excuses .. the move to MTN network, the new IPC in Cape Town ... and now this ridiculous throttling. I'm just about fed up. Will be cancelling my account soon.

I probably also gonna cancel my 10mb account. 1.28mb which I am currently experiencing, isn't gonna do the trick nor is a business account gonna workout after hour downloads.

Getting shaped to 6.25% p2p and 18.8% download which is rather ridiculous, shaping below 50% is harsh this is next level.. at least I can stream
