Aww, come on Afrihost.

When will this issue with IS be cleared up? Perhaps sour grapes from their side because you are taking away your business?

On an 8Mb/s line:

Maybe a stupid question but has this not got something to do with Telkom upgrading their lines to 1 & 2Mbps putting more pressure on the ISP's networks? I really don't buy the apple update bs.

This is pure throttling due to faster lines & higher client usage

Just switched to Afrihost a few weeks ago and for the past couple of weeks everything has been crawling (40kB/s http on a 2meg line). If this isn't sorted out in a few days I'm switching to Mweb.

Shaping...

Here is the shaping on Afrihost. Initial burst of 8.6 mbps settling down to 3.3 mbps.

This can only be an active measure on Afrihost's side, so I call BS on Afroman.

Doesn't stay constant my side either... But it is better than nothing :) or getting capped in the middle of the month, with no money for a top-up :)

Done over 19G so far.

Speeds back to normal this morning, but then again it is 8am on a Saturday morning. We'll have to wait and see what happens come Monday.

I reckon IS applies some strict control during the week and during the week evenings.
Afrihost should rename the "uncapped" to Uncapped Weekender :-) seeing as that is the only time we get great speeds!

And I do not think it is Afrihost's fault - I think it is IS and if it is, then the ISPs should stand together and threaten them legally.
The ISPs are taking the brunt of the complaints - IS does not give a fiddle....
And we suffer with inferior service

Agreed.

I'm on that afriman 80% off special. I know it works that way with the capped accounts, but if i cancel now will the uncapped account run till the end of the month?
