What is the R397 uncapped 4mb non business package like normally? For gaming mostly wow and downloading 100gb or so a month?

I have been on and off with Afrihost since May last year. I am currently on about 145gb for the month and gaming latency for bf3 is great (9-12ms) and Youtube/streaming is still great. No issues my side whatsoever. PM me if you would like more specific info :)

Excellent, thinking of getting that after this whole mweb disaster

You get [-]capped[/-] "shaped" to 5% of download speed at about 80GB on a 4mbps "uncapped'.

No way - I am on 120gb this month and still running at 100% on a 4mb uncapped home. Customer zone says no shaping as well.
Downloads running at 400+

Hi guise!

I'm Afri-curious, and I'm cancelling my MWEB, most certainly today.

I'd like to know, from those who have experience, what is the difference between Home and biz uncapped? I'm happy to pay for Biz but I'd like to know, in detail what those of you who have tried both on the MTNBusiness backbone that Afrihost now use, what's it like?

I'm not a constant leecher, do some nntp, lots of Youtube, need nice latency for ssh and so on.

I'm very anal about Youtube speed, can't stand buffering.

Thanks.

Would be interested to see this as reflected in your client zone. Please post a screenshot.

Ok, so now I'm on 92GB - this started somewhere around 89GB yesterday:

It's a step forward that we can see this, but I would strongly suggest to Afrihost that you explain the reason for this as your users do talk to each other, not to mention that the figures make no sense. How can I have average daily usage of 3.69Gb but average monthly usage of 2.97GB?

It does seem a little odd, we'll need to look into the values calculated and then figure out where the formula's are incorrect. Should be quick to fix. Easiest will be for you to drop me a PM with your username and then we can apply the corrected formula throughout.

Thanks for the heads up :)

I'm currently sitting at 330GB for this month, and saw that I was reduced to 5% download speed yesterday. But this morning it was back to 100% (and not complaining). AfriMan, can you explain how the shaping is determined? As not everyone it seems are being shaped the same?

And I would also want to know what the difference is between normal uncapped and business uncapped? Cos if the difference is just no shaping (for business) during the day, then it wouldn't make sense for someone like me as I'm at work.

EDIT: Just checked my account...back to 5% download speed again...

As a potentially new customer I'd like to know about this too. When I phoned Afrihost, the sales dude said all their rolling threshold stuff has been removed.

Scratch that - mine also says 5% download shaping now. Changed in the last hour. I suspect something is calculating incorrectly. Have sent Afriman PM with details

80GB account is pretty poor. So AH shape the account to death after about 80gigs. Looks like Openweb is the only reliable one then. A little more but you get real uncapped.

We haven't established how much is shaping gone wrong, how much is just a formula calculating incorrectly, and how much is down to EASSy having hiccups.

That being said: AfriMan, can I join the choir in thinking it was explicitly said that you've done away with thresholds and per-account shaping?

Anyone else getting slow speeds this morning? I was maxing out my line until about 8:30, and then it just hit a brick wall. All I'm getting now is 30kbps. Is the Afrihost shaping coming into play again?

I'd like to know when we are going to get an explanation for these new shaping policies and the percentile limits.
