Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

I applied for ADSL account + Telkom line migration to Afrihost 2 days ago. How long does line migration usually take? I haven't been given a time frame so I don't know how long this is going to take...

If I remember correct this process can take anywhere between 14 and 28 days. If its less than 14 consider yourself lucky :). Think mine took about 16 days a few months ago.

However, aslong as you have your afrihost details and your ADSL line is still active at Telkom then the migration time shouldnt be a big problem :)

but I've upgraded from 2mbps to 10mbps... So what about my fees that I already paid?? I've paid 10mbps account and can only get 2mbps at the moment until the line migration... I've emailed Afrihost but no reply for hours...

Yep, between 14 to 30 days. If you're lucky, it could be sooner.

Please private message me your username and I'll investigate further.

Ok, I called Telkom. They say the line is already migrated. I'll PM you now my username.

Thanks for the advice. Telkom has confirmed that the line has been migrated. So it's on Afrihost's side now to just change the line speed. I've PMed Afrigirl my username and the reference number for the line migration. Wonder what's taking them time...?

That is exactly what I meant sir. In my experience, they only follow up with telkom before 14 days if you bug them. Not really their fault I guess, since telkom has built that reputation by themselves. They have picked up in their service though.

But I have already confirmed with Telkom that the line has been migrated from their side. The line is with Afrihost now. So they just need to activate it. I'll give Afrihost a call now. No reply from Afrigirl yet...

Yes, sorry, I was referring to Afrihost in the previous post. Telkom may have completed all on their side, but Afrihost is not aware of it yet. Could be either miscommunication from Telkom, or afrihost failing to notice.

The line speed is usually real quick, maximum 48 hours I think. It's usually done by the time you put the phone down though.

I have been shaped to death since Sunday! it's past 11pm and I'm at 25%. It seems that the moment you hit 105 gigs on a one meg line you will be shaped pretty much all day and most of the night.

GTA: Vice City has been downloading on my S3 for 12 hours, and has 2 hours ago remaining. This is unbelievable.

We only apply shaping when the network demand is high. The higher the demand on the network the more accounts need to be shaped.
