HAHAHAHA, says a staff member of openweb, what a joke he is.

You're the joke for being so pathetic that you will assume I work for a company simply because I love their service and you don't?
What a man you are.

By that logic I work for Afrihost too because I have a bundle with them and enjoy the service.

Anyway. Won't let this awesome thread become filled with crap.

Last post from me.
Enjoy netting, gents!

hi afrihost guys, can you help me to check the website www.sohu.com we have problem about loading this website while the others all load fine, and we check by vodacom 3g or telkom adsl bundles all load fine, do you block this site? sometimes we can load the main home page but can not open other web page from this site. please help to check, we have business 4mbps uncapped account include telkom line all from afrihost.

None of our products are ever throttled, we only shape Uncapped DSL - based on demand. Business will be guaranteed unshaped during office hours. Our intention is not to shape after hours either, but if there is a major network issue, we may shape. But this would be in cases like IPC outages (i.e. extreme) and our plan is generally to not shape Business DSL after hours.

Oh you had major Network issues a lot this week! Shaped last night approx 6pm..........

Did you look at Client Zone to see if you were shaped?

After all the hassles Absa have had I would not be surprised if they were done for fixes.

Please PM us a traceroute on your Afrihost account so that we can investigate.

I've posted a few times on this, Cape Town's client base is experiencing heavy demand in the evenings. This is mostly torrents and fie sharing, which is causing us to shape to prevent overall latency and congestion.

Time to upgrade the Cape Town IPC ;)

Realtime also. Last night I couldn't watch the Youtubes at all.

Took 3 months just to get 1 IPC so ............ maybe next year! I like they way Afriman says only in EXTREME conditions.

100% REALTIME SPEED

Shaping Policy: 25% Download/ 6.5% P2P

Shaped again, we have EXTREME conditions every day. I don't mind the shaping, what I am objecting to is his flippant way he says only in EXTREME conditions in the EVENINGS 16:55 evening? Everyday this week EXTREME?

Tell them the truth the high users get shaped EVERYDAY till MAYBE midnight .......... and if you happen to be in Cape Town it is guaranteed

Not sure what you're quoting me on. From the sounds of it I may have been referring to Business DSL accounts, which have still not been shaped to my knowledge.

We're only shaping Cape Town and regions routed on that IPC due to the increase in demand for torrents and file sharing that could potentially congest the network, and those are the only protocols being affected by shaping.

Services like YouTube should not be affected at all, so if they are, we need to look further into this to get some info about what might be happening in each individual instance.

Rather go to another ISP like I did after all these IPC excuses.

Internet is unusable on Afrihost capped account in the evening (CPT). Moved to another ISP and no problems (IS based). It's cheap for a reason (RE: double your cap for less).
If every other ISP performs 100% and Afrihost does not, then whose fault is it?

so glad for this thread .... was actually considering giving Afrihost a try again, as its been about 6 months since I left them after their move to MTN, and it seems that nothing has really changed ... still shaped/throttled to about 25% of the account you paid for ... guess I will just stay with mweb, unless anyone can recommend another decent ISP
