Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

If I restart my router, which I must stress is a few days old, when 'congestion' is very bad (over 500ms first hop), the first hop immediately goes to 9 to 20ms. What on earth is this madness?
 
The shaping in Cape Town has been ridiculous since the 28th of last month, My total data usage this month is only 6.55 Gigs yet my line gets shaped to 50% line speed at 2am on a Saturday morning.
 
I was recently looking to change my 3G to ADSL and seeing that I already do web hosting with Afrihost I thought it would be easiest to setup another account.

My question is that I read on this forum that Afrihost announced unshaping on their uncapped accounts in March, but from the previous post in this thread it seems like there is shaping again.

Reason I'm asking is because when I was on Afrihost's bundle options the 1Mbps uncapped bundle and capped 50Gb bundle are exactly the same price (R297). For our home use the 1Mpbs is fine seeing that it's more my wife using it than me as I'm rarely using internet at home.

Just like your views on the capped and uncapped options and if there is any shaping etc.

That is still better than Mweb, you get 1-5KB/s on torrents with Mweb 4096kbps uncapped and that is why I am moving my accounts to Afrihost!

So I am getting shaped 99% on Mweb for downloads......

We unshaped Uncapped accounts as a limited time promotion, to thank our Uncapped users. It was for just over two weeks, and then we reverted back to normal shaping policies.

The whole idea behind pricing our products close together it to give you a buffet of products to choose from, based on your tastes - not your budget. Capped is great for guaranteed unshaped internet goodness. Uncapped works best for those who don't ever want to think about top ups, and don't mind a torrent or two running a little slower when there's heavy demand. It's all about what works for you :)

All about the top notch news server for me. How about SSL for R10 pm extra or summat, even R50? :D It is a highwinds server anyway, as far as I can see.
 
Thanks for the reply Afriman. I'll have a look and see what I need. If it is too slow for my liking I see a 2Mpbs line is just R100 more. Should be easy to bump it up then.

Was wanting to know what pings and things are like with lines with these gents and ladies at Afrihost as well as how are the downloads etc?

Just take out a Newsdemon account. They have the cheapest unlimited account of the big providers and they throw in 30GB secure online storage, 50 SSL connections and a VPN.
