Hi Afriman

Im having a problem with latency in dota 2 on the South African server.
My ping is normally around 30ms but for the past 2 nights, its been above 200ms.

I have to play off a trial webafrica which is working fine.
My friends on mweb have no issue.

Not sure what the issue is, please investigate.

Same Here tooo..... Ping is 250ms

Sigh now authentication issue. Cannot connect to any isp account
I'm having the same issues with all of my PPPoE accounts (MWEB, Afrihost & Telkom) now :(
Luckily my primary account never disconnected, so I still have Internet connectivity.

Haha you're lucky.
I wanted to play some dota but afrihost is having an issue so I couldn't connect to my webafrica account then I rebooted haha
Depressed

Also not authenticating for me on Afrihost uncapped 10Mb.

Telkom up to their tricks again?

No, its not just PE. I am in pretoria and mine dropped 3 times as well. I am playing Final fantasy XIV Beta with 2 friends, and both of theirs dropped as well at the same time. THey are also on afrihost accounts.

Something is wrong.

Connection issues for me as well. Has been working for a little while now. Very annoying. Diabolical streaming performance.

Same happened to me 3 times. A bit annoying when watching Netflix, just more curious why its happening. :)

ADSL is kinda broken in the Eastern Cape this morning. Can't stream a thing.

Hey guys

Just be warned that there are an unusually high number of exchanges around the country having ADSL issues, including Grahamstown, Meyerton, Sunninghill, Durban North and Fourways.

Not sure when Telkom will be addressing this, but we'll let you know when we have more information. We'll update you as we get more info :(

This will happen because...
1. MTN does not peer with JINX, CINX and I am not sure if DINX is already up and running.
2. MTN does not peer with MWEB and there game servers.

If there are no peering agreements in place with local ISP's, then all traffic will route via International and Back.

There was a great debackle when MWEB announced they will not be paying any local ISP peering transit fees.
All ISP's are allowed to peer with them for Free.

MTN and TELKOM and maybe others refused to peer for free.
Smaller ISP's uses JINX and CINX to peer with MWEB.
You can see in one of the screenshots of WebAfrica it is peering via JINX

This is CPT to CPT via International:

Well why all of a sudden now is it a issue if Afrihost never peered with mweb?

Dota 2 has never had any issues since the SA server came out?

Indeed. Its never been an issue.

I'm looking to move to AH next month but if this is the case there is no way I'm moving. I'm not interested in being routed around the world thanks.

Well there is obviously something wrong with there routing....

If you trace the gameserver you go via international:

If you trace the last visable IP in the above trace you route locally, so some routing is messed up , wild guess

Yes, our ADSL dropped several times with periods of ~10 minutes in between, around midnight last night when we were trying to play Battlefield 3, ... Very frustrating
