Usage for the month: still 11GB
20:59 Shaping Policy: 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P (still from midday?)
EDIT:

Come on Afripeople. This surely isn't normal? Telkom tested my line today, and I don't have exchange congestion issues tonight.
On a 4mb line...
Shaping currently : 75% Download/ 75% P2P

Strange.......

At this rate might as well spend the 4mbs uncapped subscription on capped bandwidth. At least you'd be able to d/l > 25GB per month for the same money and without shaping.
Is that p2p?
We don't shape generally during the first seven days, as there is not sufficient data to classify your usage or project usage based on the info we have. Thereafter, once we are able to establish a usage pattern, your shaping policy will be determined on an ongoing basis. based on the demand on the IPC at any given point in time.
Are we talking torrents here or straight HTTP file downloads?

Actually, that's not a bad idea.
You can get 10Mbps 100GB/m for R697 if bundled, R200 cheaper than uncapped - where I download on average 98GB per month
Hi Zak
Yes, I've basically torrented 30GB - Cape Town
I don't understand the "no shaping in the first 7 days though". I was under the impression that when the is pressure, everyone gets shaped, regardless of your usage.
Afriman - Can you clarify??
thanks
That's not a bad idea if you don't want the flexibility of uncapped.

Yup, that came to mind as well. But I'm perfectly happy with my current uncapped product, despite the shaping, as afrihost stays true to its word for me and doesn't shape any browsing or streaming, and my downloads are schedualed at night, so they are unaffected.
Also @Afriman, have you guys (or telkom actually) done any modifications in the Somerset West area as my pings to Cape Town have gone down from +- 40ms to +- 11ms
A lot of clients are opting for Business Uncapped since we introduced bundles, but capped bundles are also an excellent option.
If you're sticking with Uncapped, don't forget you always have 5 free Turbocharge sessions every month, and VERY cheap topup at R29 (number of sessions depends on your speed profile)
I am shaped to 25% downloads for 16 hours a day.
