How much are we able to download on the 10mb uncapped before the speed gets throttled and what speeds are we supposed to get then?

I've only done 100GB so far this month.

450 gigs

Minimum speed is 2mb if i remember correctly. I'm not sure how much you are throttled initially when you hit +/- 450 gigs.

Hey

I'm hoping for some help

Last Friday our line was suspended due to the debit order not going through, so we quickly transferred the amount due and on Saturday afternoon it was reactivated cause the payment confirmation was sent directly from internet banking and had no reference to our account. When we emailed the payment confirmation from the account email, all was sorted.

Anyway...

After reactivation the line was horrible

Here's what it was like before the suspension
ea328542d5a71b396880

705.2kB/s
The upload isn't that great in this test but that's because I was running backup software.
In all the other tests nothing else is running.

After reactivation, things took a turn for the worst.
Very slow download speeds and very unstable internet.
The ping and down speed jumps around like crazy.
Sometimes it's more consistent at about 19ms ping, around 60kB/s up and around 250kB/s down but more often it gives these kind of results.

Tests to local and overseas servers.

This was taken few minutes ago, and the router is syncing at 7007kbps.

I'm fine with throttling. That's not the problem, but is this throttling?
So many websites simply time out. Tried getting some Youtube going the other night and videos often just give errors and refused to load. Refresh pages a couple of times before things load successfully.
I really struggled to do these speedtests cause it would often just timeout and fail to load.

When I tried pingtest, the packet loss test failed most the time and I had to try it so many times before I got a successful test.

I'm just wondering what is going on all of a sudden after the account was reactivated?
Like I said, I'm fine with throttling but is this throttling? It's been like this since Saturday (4 Aug).

Contacted support but the account just keeps getting refreshed or reset.
The router has synced at 6mb, 7mb, 8mb, 10mb and 4mb over the last couple of days and it doesn't improve.
With the SNR at 4db when on 10mb (surprisingly it stayed connected for hours) it was the same as when it was 20db+ on 4mb.
The last email from support today said that the account is throttled but I'm just wondering, doesn't throttling only make the internet slower and not make it so very unstable?
Sorry if I misunderstand the throttling, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Afrihost is great ISP and I'm loving their products, but what is going on with our account atm.

Thanks!

You'll need to send me a PM so I can check your account. It could be throttling, in which case re-synching the line would make no difference, but I'll only know when I've had a look :)

Thanks so much. We're 100% fine with the policies, just want to know if everything is all right and running normally because it started so suddenly and we couldn't get a clear answer from support.
If it's throttling i'll pause the backup software for a while to get it back to normal :)
Thanks again Afriman!

Cool. Just came to do some tests on my line and found that the speed is what it's supposed to be.

Now that's more like it. On Monday I will start using my 10mb Uncapped account to it's full potential.

Nice! Piesang - try international to New York for us? Ta!

Guys

Thinking of getting a 10mbit uncapped data account, how's is the shaping?

What are the limits on a 1meg uncapped on the 80% offer. I got an account and browsing was slow so I changed back to the capped account and browsing is normal. Have done 54gb since the first is this normal?

Mine was fine the last day or so, but now really slow. Back to Telskommel capped and flying.... only done 8gigs ... eish.

Afriman - will uncapped be moving to MTN?

I don't know the full implementation details, but I know we will only be moving users across is small controlled groups. This way we can monitor performance and fine tune the network as we go along. Our primary concern is stability and quality, so we will be operating on both MTN and IS until we are confident.

We will continue to partner with IS, so we will have fallback plans if necessary. But we truly believe that this will be a positive move and Afrihost clients are going to be in "the pound seats"

:)

Ugh!

What's going on here, Afriman? I thought the 9 to 5 slowness on my 4Mbps business account was supposed to have been resolved by the IPC upgrade, but look at this:

The capped account you gave me is still performing well:

Definitely not cool! I can't see why these are different, unless we've reset the provisioning incorrectly. I'll look into this ASAP, I stall have your username etc.

Please keep using the capped account until we can get this sorted.

Knowing MTN's ping times and peering I'm not a naysayer - I think it'll be better than IS but I guess reliability is the one thing we will have to see
