Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

I just switched from Openweb to Afrihost (1mbps, uncapped) and am getting great speeds (100kb/s) - even during the day.

Hopefully the speeds will stay...

So my Dad has been using his AH prepaid gigs and tells me, something wrong and what do you know, his discovering more of the internets.

Took the plunge few mins ago and got him the 2MB AH uncapped account, can't trust fathers to tell you that YT has full films to watch :D.

Will do some testing and putting it through its paces, just to get the line upped (from Telkom) to 2MB and the fun begins.

+1 to AH for making us choose between them (AH,MWEB or Ti) :p.

Am I the only guy since moving over to AH 2MB from a 1MB Mweb account that has a issue with simple downloads?
For example: Downloading any software Adobe, Chrome, pdfcreator, open office etc on AH only manages 22Kb/s on my old 1MB uncapped acc from Mweb it managed to run at +/-92Kb/s. Yes browsing is a bit faster and so is streaming of Youtube, but that's about where the 2MB upgrade is faster on AH than my old 1MB uncapped MWEB account. Not very impressed at this stage :(

@wconan, during business hours, i think it is shaped to allow enough capacity during this time. After hours it should resume. Correct me if i am wrong AfriMan :p.

Was not aware that AH will shape data on port 80, is normal web traffic not suppose to be prioritized?

i'm contemplating whether to move from mweb to afrihost 1mb uncapped or not....

Getting about 50% of the rated speed on the account during the day. Fair enough considering its a shaped protocol & at night it frequently exceeds the promised 1mbps. If one crunches the number it actually works out better than constant 1mbps w.r.t. total downloaded so its cool.

Its not port based anymore. They use DPI just like all the other ISPs.

True enough, but in my case, at night, I either a)game or b)grab my nntp stuff early in the morning (1GB per day max), 1Mb or 2Mb isn't an issue there.
During the day, I a) work or b)play (youtube, grab install files or whatever) so I need [-]want[/-] my speed then.

Getting dial-up speeds again since 1pm on 384 Uncapped. Even web browsing is borked.

I am on a 4MB uncapped line and I am getting this rubbish:

Afrihost support says I might have congestion. I call BS. My capped account is flying.

So I am assuming you are in the same boat?

Well this does not make me happy one little bit. Damn waste of money that's what this is.

2Mb account, getting (yesterday and today) ~110KB/s on it. All protocols.
Was fine early this morning and was fine last night and was fine over the weekend.
My Afrihost capped account is hitting 210KB/s all over.
My Mweb account (1Mbps) is giving me 115-125KB/s, as that is what it's limited to.

The problem from a few weeks back has never truely gone away - it always slows down in the afternoon, kinda between 13:00 and 17:00. Not as bad as it was, I typically go down to about 2mb (on a 4mb uncapped)

Right now:
