Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Just got an Email from their Support saying the Network engineers are currently working on the problem, and do not have an ETA on full network functionality.
This is only for uncapped users..

Yet their website still shows "All systems are performing within specified parameters"......

Surely it must still be an IPC capacity issue if Durban guys have full speed but Joburg is throttled.

Thank you for letting us know, I've also just sent them a nasty email demanding they give us an explanation about whats going with the accounts, just hope they wake up Afriman and tell him to visit the forums more often.

Cant be IPC because the Capped accounts is running at full speeds, just the uncapped accounts that is giving trouble.

You certain they use the same links? And if so, are you certain capped and uncapped are prioritized identically? Because I recall reading that capped is prioritized higher than uncapped, which would explain your issues if ipc was constrained.

The thing is, I never got speeds like this ever from Afrihost before, only started yesterday, and I know that uncapped is not on the same level as capped, but the speeds were always similar during the day.

Now I get 384kbps speeds on a 1Mbps account.

I know that quite a few users had some REALLY sh** speeds last night, and we are doing our best to find out what the problem is. But depending on the outcome of the MyBB conference tomorrow, we should be able to assure people that our future plans are set to take care of every single Afrihost client in the future. I just WISH I could say more than that :(

I've got quite a few PM's last night and this morning, and I'm going to work my way through all of them, but in general (esp for the guys getting poor speeds) - we hear you, we are listening, and we have a plan that will kick in sooner than I can hint at in this message. Our move is imminent, and I'll be able to say more after tomorrow and also give a lot more detail.

Just hang in there, we are going to make it worth your while to stay with Afrihost.

I will take your word for it and hang in there. Holding thumbs.

Be thankful you guys don't have to put up with a congested exchange. Read it and weep (or laugh).

That is not congested exchange. That is Internet Solutions for us Jhb guys.
I get the exact same. (1mbps uncapped on 2Mb line)

Well it seems like IS is to blame for the most part, I think. So if Afrihost are moving to Mtn soon then all our issues should be resolved.

Thanks for responding Afriman, you say "depending" the outcome.. So can either be good or bad news? Mmm, waiting patiently for tomorrow then.

Maybe not the right way to say it - Gian is delivering one of the keynote addresses, so I can't pre-empt what he may have to say. I am assured that I will be given the go ahead to release more details afterwards.

I get those sorts of speeds in the evenings whether I use my MWEB uncapped, or AH/WA capped accounts. Definitely a congested exchange. At least you guys can switch to a backup account and ride through the next week or so, I have to rely on Telkom to fix their ****

Hi Afriman

Thanks for the feedback.
The thing is though it has not just been since last night. Its been weeks now of not having decent internet.
There is obviously a problem on the network.
Hows about changing your website because telling people that everything is fine is a lie.

How about a deal to have the mybb members migrated to the MTN network first. Especially us in Joburg who are suffering due to the IS IPC.
