Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

FFS, Afrihost made the decision to move to MTN from IS.
Because of their lack in foresight, I cannot download Windows 8 now.

But it is Microsoft who are refusing to let you download Windows 8, not Afrihost. The fault lies entirely with Microsoft. Whois info for the IP range also returns the correct country, so it is really just Microsoft having screwed this one up.

Edit: Just to make it completely clear. Afrihost can't force Microsoft to let you download Windows 8. There really is nothing Afrihost could have done here. To reiterate my point: The problem lies 100% with Microsoft.

We are aware that some clients are having issues downloading Windows 8. The problem is related to the geo-locations services that Microsoft are using have not yet updated their databases, and hence don't recognise our IP ranges. We are making every effort to get all such services to run their updates ASAP so that we do not have this problem, but whether they do or not is kinda out of our control. Most do run monthly updates (the good ones) and other not so much. We're trying to get info from MS on which services they use so that we can get the right info to them.

And in any case you should all be changing to Apple :)

Donate me a macbook pro and I'm there like a bear ;)

My wife was having trouble getting her daily fix of Glitch www.glitch.com on our Mweb uncapped account. I decided to try an Afrihost regular capped account, so I bought 2Gb. It turns out pings were higher than Mweb's capped account and overall bandwidth not much different. I was really hopeful for MTN.

Can peeps please click the link below and post results in here?

Thanks!

Anyone finding international unable to reach line speed? Been doing speedtests and local is fine but interntional 1-2mbps on a 4mb

A bit of lag on D3 last night. 300-400ms. Then I realized my 6mb line was doing 620KB/sec of nntp traffic.

I'm complaining about this every couple of pages :) Takes me 3-5 concurrent downloads to reach line speed with international downloads.
