Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

We seem to have borked this good and proper! For various reasons the new shaping and QoS policies were not fully implemented and what was implemented which we had hope would alleviate the issue was not sufficient to resolve the issues.

We're hat in hand here saying we messed up. Our directors are personally overseeing that all the policies are now fully implemented by end of business today with exception, and at whatever cost to Afrihost, as they will not accept a repeat of the last two days poor service.

Changes are being planned as we speak and this is definitely the one and only thing on our minds at the moment.

Truly sorry guys, we're confident we'll get this right.

It's refreshing to see a company just open up and admit where it's broken and not just cover up with bs. Good on you, AfriHost. I was pretty disgruntled until I read this. I'm not completely happy, but I'm less disgruntled.

Funny, I've had no issues since the move (I only play MW3 online). When I read through the thread, the people like me who had horrible issues on IS, seem to be fine (assume by lack of the same names) and others are having problems.

I for one am very happy with the move :)

Speed test done this morning. All we want (for me at least), is for someone to simply tell me, "sorry guys, ****s broken atm but we are fixing it". I really dont like being left in the dark or being told something is working 100% when it clearly isnt. Thanks for the response!

Openweb is offering ADSL users 1GB free ADSL data on its “Gold level” ADSL network. According to Openweb these accounts offer low latency, and are aimed at gamers which have been struggling with high latency recently.

“We have noticed that clients from various ISPs are suffering from high latency, effectively preventing gamers from playing online games. We are helping out by granting access to our Gold level ADSL network to the first 200 folks to take us up on this obligation free offer,” said Openweb’s Keoma Wright.
For all the CT Gamers!

Afrihost have now taken to deleting the complaint posts, from their Facebook, which point out that they have screwed their Cape Town users. It just keeps getting better doesn't it.

I wonder why the people in Cape Town keep thinking it is only people in Cape Town who have problems. Having 200ms ping to my uplink in Pretoria is not any better than having 200ms ping to your uplink in Cape Town.

Signed up with Openweb & canceled Afrihost lets see how things go tonight, no use in getting frustrated anymore perhaps ill revisit when all their ducks are in a row.

Excuse my assumption. I just know there is no IPC anywhere near Cape Town, so it's just a given that all CPT users will have worse Latency than we had prior to the move.

Well I am in JHB and i average about 300 latency. So I am starting to the think the lack of ipc for ct has nothing to do with it.

So when they fix the latency my downloads are gonna be broken, holding thumbs they get both right.
Done 13 GB so far on my 1 Mbps line this month

so glad i never signed up for an uncapped account with afrihost and rather went with mweb.
