Ok, funny, the whole engine is like dead but we will tell them one of the spark plugs is mis-firing. There are more wrong here than just disconnects. If that's your only problem then call yourself lucky.

They have acknowledged a problem though?

There's a problem with disconnects on our network. We're hunting for the reason. Sorry for the pain #Afrihost

Im having plenty problems...too many to name, was fine earlier.

It's possible they're whitelisting Speedtest so the results show up normal, while everything else is shaped to death.

Hate to say it, but this whole fiasco seems a lot like what WebAfrica had at the start of the year. Terrible speeds and latencies, constant disconnects, etc. Back then, WA finally owned up and admitted their network didn't have enough capacity for the amount of clients they had. Wouldn't be surprised if this is the exact same thing that's happening with Afrihost.

It certainly shows a lot of signs of their network being oversubscribed.

I concur !

OMG I have HAD it! Seriously! Try playing a clan match and getting 30 second DC's EVERY 3 minutes!! Its after 9 and its been happening ALL day, counter strike and Dota!

If you say torrents are the issue, then why not just BLOCK all torrents until you fixed it? Coz its making EVERYONE else have **** internet! Last week same story, over the weekend it was okay. Still happened but today its the WORST!

Tomorrow I am getting Black Ops and luckily I get a free 40GB account with the game. So I hope I wont have trouble playing my new game!

Plz fix this ASAP! Its been getting very bad!

doubt the are whitelisting speedtest - mine is dismal on 4mb uncapped

Test conducted on 12 November 2012 21:21
Download Speed: 594 kbps (74.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 386 kbps (48.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 237 ms

latency is just ok for dailies in WoW but the 20mins dc's

This morning I was downloading @ 830KB/s now the latency is awesome, but the rest is useless

Test conducted on 12 November 2012 21:10:48 SAST

Download Speed: 919 kbps (114.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 514 kbps (64.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

On 4Mb/s line and 4Mb/s unacapped - Line + Account R1000 p.m. - using testmy.net -

Download :: 89 Kbps 11 kB/s Upload :: 69 Kbps 9 kB/s

I should be gratefull, it's faster than my old 56kB/s modem. What a joke!

What doesn't make sense is speedtest is reporting 90KBps download internationally, but downloading things like winamp etc from their websites hovers between 4-9KBps. I don't get it.

The only way that makes sense is if they are unshaping speedtest and shaping everything else

I reckon that earlier today when they said "All systems are performing within specified parameters", they actually meant "All systems are performing within *THE NEW* specified parameters :S
