I wonder where I have seen Afrihost do something new and innovative and once launched we find out its broken ... mmmm.. Deja vu...

As a programmer myself it isn't hard to make something like client zone. Suppose the quality of programmers is just as bad as the network.

Wow, not the reaction I was expecting ... please let us know when you launch you're next product, we'd love to learn how to do it.
 
I moved over from webafrica, because I only got 200kbs on my 4meg and i wasn't even in the shaping area. At first I was very happy, getting my 400kbs and even more. I was glad you kept the news server when you moved, but now it doesn't even make a difference because I'm limited 24/7 to 100kbs. I want to at least be fair, I'm going to wait until the end of December if you cant fix the problem by then I'm gone. But if you are going to tell me my speeds are never going to become more then I'm going to leave at the end of the month.

I've heard that "not so/isn't hard" before. Looking at the client zone it is not as simple as one might think, I'd bet there is some interesting functionality going on there.

Now the challenge is on. If you have development balls 4saken, let us see your clientzone since it is so easy :)

The sad part is that it probably works just fine, Afrihost just decided to make sure it doesn't work.

Time to go back to 1999 when user agent spoofing was still needed... Oh wait...

Looks nice and everything, but I think if it wasn't or the ongoing issues with download speeds etc, it would have made a bigger impression.
I can see the usefulness of client zone increasing with this new look/feel, , ,

BUT, , ,

A lot of people might feel that while you are having other more important issues, a new client zone is the least of their (and supposed to be your) concerns.

Dude, really? It's in beta - I'm also quite sure it's not high on the priority of bugs seeing such a small portion of clients use Opera+Linux.

I had to test the theory... Afrihost reject Opera if "identify as Opera", "identify as Firefox", "masquerade as Firefox" or "masquerade as Internet Explorer is selected", but with "identify as Internet Explorer" set, Afrihost finally let me use the new Clientzone, and of course it seems to work just fine.

I think you missed some part of the conversation...

When I try to use Clientzone with Opera, Clientzone refuses to let me access it and tells me I should download Opera.

There are three problems here:
1) They implemented a user-agent whitelist. That's one of the most stupid things you can do when it comes to websites.
2) They say that Opera is OK for their whitelist while in fact they block Opera.
3) If you use Opera but claim to be using Internet Explorer, Clientzone will let you in.

Use the existing clientzone until this issue is fixed? Not like we can't access anything, that would be a different story.

It says requires Opera 12+... Your opera is masquerading as v9.80?

Well, obviously. Afriman came here to advertise it, I pointed out it wasn't working and the fact that Afrihost spent extra time on making sure it would only work with a limited subset of browsers was less than I'd expected from an ISP.

Then some guy came in and claimed we were stupid for using Internet Explorer. I had to explain the issue really slowly for this person to understand what the problem was. And now I have to explain all that to you.
