Hello

I've had some very positive feedback from friends using Afrihost uncapped, I have no idea how their shaping policy works as quoted in uncapped feedback and I see CPT seems to have some problems but I am a Durban user so not concerned there. With price comparrisons if Afrihost suits my needs there's no reason not to switch to them.
So I figure I'll post my usage patterns and maybe Afrihost and/or the community can explain if its worth it. I have a few extra technical questions which I'd rather ask a Afrihost representative in PM but if the following doesn't cut it then it doesn't make a difference.

Current ADSL Account - 4Mbit Uncapped Mweb Premium

STATS
---------------------------------------------------------------
Usage: Primary HTTP/Gaming
Secondary: NNTP (International)
Tertiary: FTP (International)
Torrent: Hardly ever

VPN (Local to work) Sometimes

Based on Last Months Usage
Down Traffic (Mixed)
Minimum Daily usage: 1GB
Average Daily Usage: 2GB-3GB
Max Daily Usage - 5GB
Peak Usages - Steam downloads can make hit high days.

Times of use (Average)
HTTP (Browsing / Mail / Music) : 8am - 5pm
HTTP (Streaming Video / Music / Browsing) /Gaming: 5:30pm - 1am
NNTP / FTP: 1AM - 7am (Automated download generally hits at that time)
---------------------------------------------------------------

I will note that I'm used to full speed on downloads from MWEB

So in short, will this work out or will I suffer from restrictions ?

Thanks a lot

At present the East Coast region is hardly ever shaped, so this should not be an issue for you. When there is high demand, we do shape downloads and peer to peer from time to time, but this has not been the almost since the IPC went live. We don't shape priority realtime services like browsing, gaming, VoIP or terminal services.

We don't also shape or throttle by usage, so we don't really mind how much data you pull, we only shape if the network is starting to experience heavy demand which can affect latencies and overall throughput for all clients.

Drop me a PM if you have more questions, I'd be happy to give you more info :)

Seriously with those sort of usage patterns the OP should have no problems at all. No need for the business package IMO.
