I am currently subscribing to Afrihost's Uncapped Business 10Mbps package (R997 per month). However, I notice that they also have an Uncapped Premium 10Mbps package, which is R200 less per month.

I tried comparing the features between the two packages, and the only difference that I can see is to do with the shaping. For all practical purposes, is the Business package worth the extra R200 per month?

Are there any other disadvantages that I need to consider if I had to change to the Premium package?

I am self-employed and work at home, and use my internet connectivity during the day for work and at night for my Apple TV (Netflix, etc).

Premium Uncapped will be a little slower speed because they shape it more. I'd suggest having a look at how their shaping works, it's on the website and shows how each package is shaped when under strain

Why not capped with a large bundle ? It's unshaped as well. Throw in Afrihost+ for R99 which doubles your data and you'll have plenty. Not forgetting their free hours either

For example...for R599 you get 600GB, and double it for R99 extra....

Those packages look interesting, but I don't see the line speed options.

Yes, your speed will be limited to the physical hardware, not the package. As per my sig, I'm on a 40Mb line on a 600Gb package (R299+R99) Speedtest around 38Mb

I must say that I am amazed that I did not pick this up before - it seems to be a no-brainer!

Looking at my ClientZone, my average data usage this month has been just over 11 GB, and I am paying R997 per month. I can get double that amount of data usage for only R29 per month!

I'm looking for the "catch" but I can't see one. Why would anyone want to take out an uncapped package then?

Get a capped package of R299 or more, and get 18 hours free time. No reason to be on an uncapped package anymore. You can Also double your capped package for R99 with AfriPlus

Freetime is between 00:00 and 6pm.

No idea :) If you change , make sure it's R99 or more for 18 hours of free data :)

Code:
 Introducing Free‑Time
Get Free, Unlimited Data for 18 Hours Every Day!

Paid Monthly Capped DSL Packages of R99+ per month will get Free,
Unlimited Internet usage between Midnight and 6PM every day!

I am about to switch packages on the ClientZone, but the options are confusing me a bit.

I can see a section headed "Unshaped Capped DSL" and then another section headed "ADSL Monthly", which cost half of the first section. What is the difference between the two sections, apart from the cost?

For example, what is the difference between the 20 GB Unshaped Capped DSL package for R49 and the 20 GB ADSL Monthly package for R29?

One is shaped, the other is unshaped. Cheaper shaped... Check my previous post for an alternative. R99 for 100gig which rolls over for just about ever. So you never need to worry about data again.

The difference is that we advertise the Shaped Capped pricing on the site where you will have the option to go Unshaped later during the sign-up process which will affect the cost as well as your bandwidth allocation. :)

If you get stuck during the Edit Package section in ClientZone, please feel free to drop me a PM and I'll guide you though it. :)

As Dan said , unshaped vs shaped. As per our previous comments, go for at least R99, it will give your the added benefit of 18 free hours.... if you're staying with Afrihost that is :D

I've made the switch to the 100GB Capped DSL package for R99 per month - that will save me R898 per month!

I could kick myself for not doing this ages ago!
