Afrihost Uncapped - SLOW!!

I know that such topics have been brought up a number of times, but I wanted to share my experiences.

I have 2 ADSL accounts. My 30GB account with WebAfrica, and an Uncapped 4MB line with afrihost. I opened the Afrihost account because, pmce moving to a 4MB line, I discovered that by streaming videos and paid movie services, it is surprisingly easy to use more than 30GB in a month.

My frustration is the amount of throttling I experience with Afrihost, or is it not throttling? I wasn't able to download from a particular server at more than 50KBps. I thought it may be the server, so I switched back to my WebAfrica account, and immediately experienced speeds of 390KBps.

My usage with Afrihost is only 45GB for the month, not quite the 180GB "abuse" limit I hear thrown around.

Any thoughts on this?
 
I am on 384k, and was getting about 50k on my downloads. HTTP also slow, and Skype was breaking up. Just switched back to my MWEB account and while shaped, MUCH better. Afrihost was ok earlier today.
 
So you guys think that when Seacom is restored back to its working condition my speeds should increase?

Yes.
I am also on Afrihost Uncapped since July 14. Except for the two or three bad patches the last two days it has been fantastic full line speed downloads even the once or twice I attempted torrents.
 
No really this doesn't make any sense to me. It can't even be a shaping thing, I must be throttled - big time. Speedtest.net results:





If this is the service I have to deal with I will be very quick to cancel my account with them. My line should be 8x that speed.
 
My 4mb line has been sitting 50kbs since 1 July. SO yeah not seacom. It spikes up to 120kbs now and again.. I have cancelled.

(last month I got 62 gig)
 
Gah, just switched to my WebAfrica account - my Afrihost capped 1GB account was completely dead (not capped, just not working).

99.999% downtime guarantee! I kid, they're an okay bunch. Still I WANT ME MAH INTARNETS!
 
I am very surprised that they actually THROTTLE line speeds so much. I wouldn't even mind if I was getting 2.5 or 2.0Mbps, but 1/8th of my connection whenI have used 40GB is not at all acceptable. Thankfully we are about 10 days from the end of the month. I will cancel and give OpenWeb a chance to make some money from me.

I still have my WebAfrica account, and thank god I do, it's been a life saver!

PS - I am now getting no more than 0.19Mbps on LOCAL sites. Not even a joke. I've speed tested about 5 servers. The highest one is 0.3Mbps. I am so disappointed with Afrihost. Its just not a good service.
