This is form the newly leaked 5.0.0.296 for the 9700.

Havent tested it yet myself but hopefully we will have afrikaans support in the future as welll for our blackberries :D

Here is the link to the download

I have updated the zip file, alll you need to do is downloaded, extract the rar file, plug blackberry in via usb, double click on the install.bat and it will install. Allow to rebot.

FYI: this is only for afrikaans input and not for changing the blackberry text to afrikaans.

AutoCorrect - Afrikaans - Storm2

It's so cool to have Afrikaans as an Input Language. Especially useful on the Storm as the soft keyboard / SureType is a bit difficult to use if the language you're typing in doesn't match the device's input language.

I have a problem with the AutoCorrect entries for the Afrikaans language though. Most of the entries have an extra set of brackets around them. The entry for asb is ((asseblief)), which causes asb to be translated to (asseblief) when you type. Any way around this (an updated lanuage file perhaps) so that I don't have to edit each entry manually?

This is my first BlackBerry and I love it! Wanted to get the Storm after BB came for a demo at my work, but then saw that the Storm 2 was on the way. If I waited for VodaShop, I probably still wouldn't have one! Never dealing with them again! Go CelluCity! They managed to get me one middle Dec just before I left for the holidays. Even after I got my phone, I "tested" a VodaShop - told me Storm2 was still being tested (though Vodacom told me it was done some time ago) and said it would only be available around end of Jan 2010. The one sales guy actually put the phone down in my ear after telling me "why do you phone me when you pretend to have all the answers". They suck! Now to fill up my BB Messenger. Only have 2 contacts at the mo :p. Will have to convince friends / fam to get Swartbessies!
