Again a hypothetical situation.

The man is in his early thirties and the woman is in her early twenties. Basically a 7 - 13 year gap.

Why and in what way would a 34yo man be incompatible with 21yo woman? What are the general intentions and ambitions of a 34yo man suppose to be in comparison with the general intentions and ambitions of a 21yo woman.

Generalisations and stereotyping is in order here.

This has no bearing on me, like I said it's only hypothetical.

I know someone who is 21 and going out with someone who is 41...

Definitely closer than those of a 21 year old man, and an 8 year old....

I think when you're in your 30's (more late 30's) your outlook on life in general might be different from that of the 20 something yr old. They're still want to party all the time etc etc. Like jive bunnies they are. Too much energy imh. You just wanna chill..most of the time!

85yrs old and tapping 17yr old bunnies ;)

As a turning-34-year-old-this-month guy, I would personally blow my head off if I had to engage in a serious relationship with a 21 year old.

I'm 26 and feel the same way. Don't do it, Picard.

A general guide for a minimum is half your age + 7 ...

So a 34 shouldn't really drop below 24 ;)

However - I agree it does depend on the person. I started dating my ex when I was 26 and she was 21. As fscked up as she may have been at times, was far more mature than any other 21 I knew.

I think its all about in what stage you're in. If your 34 and partying like a 21 year old, don't have a proper job, live with your mom... then the age difference means nothing.

But by 34 most people have moved on from being a kid.

I think the age gap is not the problem, its the ages that they are at.

At 34 a dude is settling down and ready to start a family, moving away from his wild youth. At 21 a girl is just descoverying her freedom and doesn't really know what she wants out of life.

Pretty much what Vegeta said.
