Hi all,
I need to upgrade my agp card, but I do not want to spend to much - upgrading whole system in about 12 - 18 months. I don’t really want to spend more than R1500. I don’t mind Nvidia or Ati - aslong as I get good value.

Here are my choices so far
XFX 6600GT 256MB - R1400
Gacube X1600Pro 256MB - R1450
I can also import a Powercolor X800GTO 256MB for about R1600, but it does not support shader model 3.0 (will this be a big problem?)

I am stumped - please advise.

Any other card suggestion would be appreciated

Thanks,
Tarzan

Most people are going for the 6600GT series because of value for money.

I assume when you upgrade you'll be going for SLI capabilities which will render your new purchase obsolete.

Thank you for all the advice, I went for the 6600GT. Performance is good and should keep me going for the next year or so
